Ok got it home. Got some work to do before I can even try to start the engine! Missing a hose from the radiator to the block. I think I found it in the truck with some sort of metal valve attached.

The hard top is a little rough around the edges. Will probably kill the rust and be done with it. I think I'm getting a smittybuilt roll cage from tnkayaker and a bestop bikini top from wytovich.

That worries me.

Mostly scale. Will try to get better pics of frame tomorrow. I hit some spots with my drill and a wire brush and it came right off. Been researching different methods I'd rust removal as well. Everything from muritic acid to vinegar. I need to see how that lower radiator hose goes then find a radiator cap. Then I will try to fire up the motor.

Yes dashboard rust sucks.

Gabe I have a stock roll bar out of a 78 here in great shape. If you are interested I will ask the owner if he wants to sell it. Let me know in PM.

Question #1

Does this look right? Need to go from lower radiator to block. Doesn't the heater connect here as well?

I have tried to download the fsm but having problems with it.

That looks like a temp sending unit installed in-line ahead of the block. Not sure it that would have been factory or not.

Rig looks like a fun project, will be following along.

Just bought a replacement through racer 65.

Different from mine... My lower hose splits and goes to the block and to the oil cooler... Agreed, though, looks like it will be fun! Dash doesn't look too bad.

I have been talked into a sbc swap. I want enough power to get out of the way. What transmission do you recommend? I have help on the install. Thinking I can get this done for around 1500 tps.

Gabe, just get it running as it is before you start thinking about a swap.

Do a lot of research on V8 swaps into 40s, lots of issues to overcome.

1500 tps?
