Since we are moving the discussion over here I will post the Moderate trails I want to run.
I would like to run the Kokopelli"s Trail, this is 2-3 days of wheeling with camping on the trail. A side loop will take you to the Top of the world. The complete trail is 142 miles, not counting the Top Of the World, there are several places where it crosses or is close to a highway. The logistics issue with this trail is that it starts in Fruita (near Grand Junction,CO), so if your truck will not do 4 hrs+ on the highway then we are in to trailering. I believe the trail head is near 21 Mile Rd,where the hard core group wants to go, so we could meet them ( assuming their trucks are still usable)run the trail and then get them a ride back to Tow rig.
The other trails on my must do list are:
Poison Spider Mesa
Golden Spike/Gold Bar Rim
A note for anyone that has not been there before and is looking at Trail ratings, they are written for a rental J**p on 33's, any Toyota 4WD with 33's can do all the Moderate trails and with a rear locker most of the Difficult.

Roger, does it matter or is there a preferred direction to run the KT? Reason I ask is if we run KT from Moab to Fruita this makes the most sense for those wanting to run 21 Road and Billings Canyon.

AYE !! - Come hell or high-water, I will not miss this trip. Consider me locked in, officially.

- I'm operating under the assumption that the first two weeks of Oct. will end up being the official dates, so we have nearly 10 months to work out the fine-details.

- I have secured a loan for a tow rig (for my business) which will be coming in during early Feb. We have the majority of equipment needed, so this loan is entirely for another tow rig and trailer. Ideally I will find a truck in early March; as soon as do, I'm 100% committed to pulling a 3-car wedge (trailer) to Moab. My 80 will most likely be on the trailer, so I will have room for two more rigs. I hope this will help ease the strain of moving the less-streetable rigs, and provide a cost effective solution for those wishing to bring a crawler.

I have not run the KT but the guide book and other threads I have read recommend running it East to West as there are a couple steep hill they recommend you go down.

It's a stretch for me to expect to be in on the trip. My 80 is still in pieces (HG/timing chain) and I bought a 75% renovated house, so between the two, $$ is gonna be tied up, much less time to get the 80 back on the road while finishing the house. I might see some light in a few months, but it doesn't look good from here.

I don't know if my rig will be capable of KT, but if it is, I might be interested.
Poison Spider, Golden Spike & GBR are on my list since I missed them last time. I'd also like to hit Rusty Nail which is in that same area. I think Rusty Nail is NOT a moderate trail though.

Rusty nail is rated extreme. It runs into Gold Bar Rim.
Ted while you are editing and building list we need a trailer list, it looks like we currently have a 4 car with 2 trucks and a 3 car with 1 truck.

I'm in.

Moderate Trail group please SIR!

I drive myself, willing to convoy out and back but I stop and sleep along the way.
pickup + trailer+FJ60.

Potentially have enough space for a another person to ride in pickup if transportation becomes an issue.

Big group of GXes are heading out to Cruise Moab in May if anyone wants to jump in the convoy.

Who cares

1st Post updated - will keep updating as info comes in.

my schedual is continually changing slightly. But i will be leaving WY and heading back to GA that time of year. I figure i will at least swing through Moab and say hi to you guys. But i might get lucky and have a full 10 days or so in Moab. I know i need to be in Atlanta by the 13th or so.

Anyway. In for some moderate overnight trails. I have looked at the Kokopelli. But lately i have started to look at Needles district in south Canyonlands. I think the primary trail i am looking at is Elephant Hill. I have not researched it enough to see what the other trail systems are that it leads to. But it should be a beautiful area to do a night or two.

You would decide to do this the year we are having a kid :bang::bang:

If you are gonna be gone for 4 years, Sam (little Hanna) with be wheeling by the time you get back :grinpimp:

Well Nick????? That time has come.

Throwback! These pics should get the blood pumpin.

CO/UT trip
