Can’t remember who has the video of Ron’s adventure. Closest I’ve ever seen of a vehicle tipping without actually going over. Good thing he had an extra pair of pants!

I mentioned that I wanted to change up the flooring and get some all weather cover. I had bought some thermal layer to try out and probably put a rubber mat over it. I was hoping for like a dynamat style that was more for heat than sound. I found something on Amazon that is water/mold/chem resistant but it is more foamy that I thought. I was curious if it would stick well and stay down and contour the ribbing on the pig. I cleaned a spot on the floor real good and put a patch down. It seams to stick well. I am driving the pig today to get some good heat on it to see it stays down and actually works.

the next part is the rubber mat, or I guess PVC. It seems to be the water/mold/chem proof thing I need. I want some kind of texture and not just flat rubber and I dont want just lines. I feel like the lines would be hard to make perfectly straight. I found some black diamond plate that seems ok. I also found this hex pattern that looks like it would catch and hold fluids and I could just shop vac it out. It also has a stipple on the back that might keep it in place.

Where you get Honeycomb 🤔

well, so far I have found it on Alibaba. Which I guess is a ball ache to purchase stuff through. Ima keep looking for vendors that sell it in bulk. Or I will just do diamond plate because that is easy to find.

Seems like that material might be perfect for removable mats. If mounted permanently, i.e. under the door sills/shift lever boots etc., it'd be a pain the kester to clean up after a muddy trail trip.

The rubber and thermal pads are only going on the floor. The material looks like it wouldn't contour over the hump well. I am building a console that goes from dash to back of front seats. I need cup holders! I will put the thermal pad on the underside of the doghouse. The console might be steel so I may line the inside of that too.

It's 85 degrees outside. Uncovered was 165 degrees when I first hit it and then by the time I got the pic to work it had already dropped to 158. The covered area was 106. I think it's higher because the ambient temp is high in the truck. I figure I cover more and it will be cooler. Plus the rubber mat will insulate even more.

I also would like to make some aluminum heat shields for the exhaust.

that thermal stuff looks like the same stuff im using.. down here we call it formshield and it comes in different thicknesses with stick backed or not. that honeycomb mat looks great

I did the NASA paint stuff under the body, inside the body, dyna mat stuff, plastic/rubber floor mat stuff, and floor mats. It’s never gets really hot like a stock truck does, but it’s damn sure not cold in there either.

When I go out of my garage and mess around, the AC seems to keep up pretty well. When it’s been sitting outside alllll day in the Alabama sun, it’s just a big damn oven.

I really want to get some of the clear UV tint stuff before next summer.

yep, I agree. I put a wrap on the back part that goes under the fuel tank. It was heating the gas too much. I can see that the pipe is rusting faster than the rest.
