ok, got the spring back in. Where does the other spring go? Right now I have it where it fits into the plastic groove of the fr/dvr switch but it doesn't feel right when I get it back together. It won't spring back like it should? What does one of these babies cost when new?

Something like $250 IIRC. There's a web store (switch_doctor dot net) that sells Chinese knockoffs for something like $55.

There are two different switches.

84820-32150 91-94 and 84820-35010 95-97.

The 84820-32150 was also used in 89-94 Camrys.

The 84820-35010 was also used in 94-95 4Runners.

I swapped the 94 into my 95 and it works without issue. The only differences I can tell are some minor changes in the circuit board design and all the buttons light up in the 94 model. The auto up mod works on both even though the 94 style doesn't show the diode on the circuit board.

switch doctor is now only 38 bucks[for the 96-97 version] with priority shipping, got mine in two days

it IS a knockoff, but i have been having major issues with my original switch, have done the auto up mod a way while back, but recently it started only going auto up/down versus manual up/down, nd finally gave up the down all together, so i ordered a switch doctor for cheap.....
it worked as soon as i plugged it in, however the circuitry is very different, i am thinking of ordering another one to experiment with and see if i can do the auto up mod on it, has anyone else tried that yet? [with the switch doctor version i mean]

at least now i can really tear into the non working oem switch to see what is wrong with it........

there are two levels to the actuation of the drivers switch, where the magnetic part is is where it should actuate the "auto" down, and thats the first part of the "fork" of the switch "button" which moves it the least, then theres the longer part of the "fork" that moves the actuator into the two sets of leaf switches, which activate the "manual" part of the switch.....mine was acting up where it should only activate the motor while you were pushing on the switch, it was going into "auto" too easily.......

I was there to

But for 50 $ at cruiser part its a no brainer. Just calculate your time to open this switch you bought at least 3 x

so you are saying the switch doctor switch will fail a lot?

im prob gonna buy a new one from mr toyota later on, so i can do the auto up mod , but its at least 200 + online at some different sellers

im just leary of buying used, cause mine has 120k+ miles on it and is just not working so for now the switch doctor switch is in there and my drivers window goes down again..........

Any one know if there is a company that makes a RHD version of the master s/w? Mine is becoming hit and miss..... New from mr t is 250+
As some people here will agree, one of these cheap new ones would be better in the mean time until I can pony up for the real McCoy.

Thanks for posting the pic with the two springs. I didnt see these two springs when I took it apart.

I wish I had read sooner that the clear plastic did not need to come off!

Thanks everybody for all your research, trial, and error on this and all over MUD.

So how did you get the LEDs in all the buttons? :P

Technically... You could put a 94 in your 95-97 and it would light up. The only change is if you didn't want green

Try switch doctor, everything they sell is made in China so guessing there may be a Chinese knockoff for RHD vehicles available.

Before it fell to pieces!

If you have it together be very careful reinstalling the switch.

The other little spring is for the drivers window rocker switch if I remember correctly.

Just cleaned my contacts and parts and Springs flew everywhere on disassembly, this thread was a life saver for reassembly as I am still waiting on FSM.... the window lock button and spring was giving me a hard time, a good 30 minutes of messing with it before I got it back right...
Thanks..

The manual will not help you with that. The switch is not considered serviceable. It either works or you replace it.

Did it work?

I just saw this thread pop up, cant believe it's been three years but NO, that switch "guaranteed" to work from ebay was a piece of junk, worse than my original switch that quit working my drivers window, that ebay switch wouldn't even work the rear windows, so in the interim I bought a switch docter replacement, its worked great so far, except I think its the reason my keyless entry does not work now, I have to try and put an oem back in and see if that straightens up or not before I spend 200+ on a new oem switch

@96Cruiser see Dan's post about switch availability quoted by treeroot above. I just got a Camry master switch off eBay for $25 shipped. It should be here next week and I will report back on how it fits and if it works. From the pictures, they look identical, and if Dan says it crosses over, well that's good enough for me.

that sounds good, but im done with used switches from ebay, the "tested fully operational" crap pisses me off but if a NEW camry switch was a bit cheaper than the cruiser switch, well I might be in for that.
