group buy for haffi's snorkels to save on shipping anyone??

How much for a 6-pack of snorkels sir?

Thanks guys.

Before I start taking orders lets discuss the down sides of this design.

1. I have no idea if it will fit a truck with a sunroof. Possibly it is in the way of the roof tilting up.
2. It will not fit unless you replace the electric or pull up kind of radio antenna. The intake pipe goes through the fender right below the antenna hole so the antenna mechanism is in the way.
3. It probably has to be removed if the windshield needs to be replaced.
4. You will have to drill holes in the top of the car to fit it, unless you glue it in place. That can make removing it near impossible. These holes can make a way for water leaking into your rigs.

What do you guys say about these down sides? Are you still interested in getting a copy?

Yes the intake pipe through the fender can be replaced with a bigger one. Bigger is better, that is for sure.

Time for a update.

I friend of mine swapped air filter boxes with me so I go a stock one again.
But still I had to modify it ;)

The stock intake is facing forward. That does not sound right when you are having the air coming from the back.

After drilling a few spot welds I had this.

Then I turned the intake pipe around, cut a new hold and used rivets to fasten it to the box, used a aluminum plate to close the old hole.
I also removed the "tuna can" and closed the holes.

Now my filter box looks like this.

I glued some sound deadening material to the body where the snorkel sits to prevent it from scraping the paint causing rust problems.

Then I installed the snorkel on the car. The paint job is far from being perfect but now I want to start using the car instead of being working on it all the time ;) so I will worry about the paint later.

I think it looks ok ;)

I haven´t connected it tho the intake just yet, I´m going to do some tests on it first and clean it out, it´s probably full of fiberglass dust from sanding it.

I will do that next week. This weekend I´m leaving town and going camping.

Thanks guys.

It looks like it will clear the sunroof, my antenna is a POS, ive already drilled holes and got nutserts in the thing (amongst other things), but a drilling template would be nice.

So sure, downsides are acceptable, price will be the real option.

Looks fricking sweet BTW!

Cool ;)

I have no idea if I will ever make the mold but I will let you guys here on mud know.
What would you consider a fair price?

WOW that thing is very very nice!!!!

OEM Snorkel is about 425 + shipping
Safari is about the same +/- depending on where you get it.

As for yours being completely different and way cool I could see at least 450 + shipping...... but that is my opinion others may differ.

Glad you like it guys ;)

When looking at these pics I see some faults I will have to repair before I can say it is ready. There is an dent in the top of it, it is obvious when looking at the pic from the side. It also looks like the it should line better with the lines on the top of the windshield when looking at it from front of the truck.

I´m afraid that shipping this huge thing from Iceland is going tho be to expensive, I don´t there is any chance for me to make these here and sell and ship them to the states for a good price.

But, there are some discussions going on between me and some fiberglass expert over there. Perhaps one day these will be on the market.

We will have to be sure that we can sell enough of them before we make up our minds on what we do.

So if you are really sure you would buy a snorkel please comment in this thread, the more of possible buyers the more likely it will happen. Also if you know anyone thinking about getting a snorkel show this to them ;)

But just in the end, we have not made our minds up about if we go into production or not.

Thorsmork? The snorkel looks great Haffi. I knew it would turn out cool but it has exceeded my expectations. Nice work.

It looks like you are being attacked by a giant slug. It looks awesome!, but I already have a snorkle.

I agree it looks incredible...very nice work. Big question is, where did you get the flared fenders? Is that a kit that you can purchase complete, if so, where do you get it and what does it cost? I would imagine you have wheel spacers as well...lift...can you tell me a little about your flares and general set up that gives your truck that incredible curb appeal / stance? Again, great work!!

^^^THIS! I love those fender flares!

Good work on this BTW It came out really good.

amazing work, love the diy part. Nicely done!
Looks different all right.
Can't help but think that the air passage looks a bit small, though. Ideally, you'd want that to be much bigger than the original parts given the extra length. Is that the case?
