It is not a header it is a 2" OEM Ram's horn manifold. Jrob has them on his truck too. Stock manifold. No clearance issues. Less heat, they match up with that crossover Y pipe that we keep talking about.

Did you talk to Pat? He has some.

I meant manifold. My bad. Pat has a 2" set. I know they match the y pipe. Finding the 2" was the problem. Pat is figuring up what he wants for them. I'll order the Y pipe and other stuff tomoro.

I'll check but I believe the Rams horns I have are off of a 78-82 corvette. They are 2".

did it have a clutch fan on it? If not, how much room did you have between the water pump and back of the radiator....and is your motor fairly center of the radiator?

It took me about 6 days to fab up the shroud on my 40....Srob's was easier.

Electric fans dont need custom shrouds......

That isn't always the case.
Chad, my buddy from Texas, had to go with a jam up electric fan setup to keep his cool. I fought Srob's for a while, I built a custom shroud for the electric fan...Finally gave up and put a clutch fan on it.

to each his own, I am just putting it out there. I know there are plenty of 40's running around with electric fans....they didn't work for me.

thanks....i ordered the champion 4 core, and added the elec fan a shroud...hopefuly, it will suffice....it is a 1600cfm fan.....

Hard to tell. But I made some progress the first half of today.

Stripped all the old bs wires out. Had to stop because the cables, fuel lines, and other wiring were so caked in with mud.

Spent about 2.5 hours busting it all out with the pressure washer.

Careful not to lose your grip while on your back holding the front of the sprayer tho.

Ok. Got the engine separated from the trans and t case. Thanks to my buddy Joseph Hines that came over to help separate it. And help me ID what engine I actually have.

Still running in to redneck fixes. Like a lag bolt with a chopped off tip holding the clutch slave on.

Can anyone help me with the throw out bearing and slave cylinder? The bearing doesn't match the one for the Chevy clutch I was told to get. Thinking it may be a yota part.

Also. The bell housing is a Downey part. I'll check with them too. Haven't seen anything from them in a long time.

Until then, looks like some more cleaning.

The engine has comp cam roller rockers and a cam as well.

downey is out of business, I think the guy still maintains a user name on mud so if true you might be able to find out that way on your parts issue. make sure you know what year model SBC 5.7 you have as that might be critical. I have a 5.7 in my 60. I use the toyota clutch slave and we had to alter the length of the slave rod, as I recall we used the toyota called out slave and then an adjustable rod from one of the other older slave setups. Not sure what the downey configuration is, my junk is from advance adapters and I use the matching center force clutch setup they recommend.

Thanks @Elbert

Joseph had a guide for casting numbers pulled up on his phone. The heads appears to be older and the block newer. Weird. 1979 was the only year the 2 cross referenced. So. I'm saying 1979 350.

I will look for him. You happen to know the user name?

Thanks again for the input. Any ideas on that t/o bearing??

I don't know the contact info for the downy guy, you might do a search on the main forum using that name. I bought a VSS apater from him not too long before he closed down. You might want to go check out the advance adapters web site, they have a "kit" for their bellhousing adapter....as I recall last time I was on the site you had two configurations..one was the marks setup and the other was a AA setup. And I believe they provided the throw-out bearing too. Worth a call to them, I"m not sure if the crankshaft dimensions are the same across the 5.7 family of engines, my setup is a 1999 5.7 vortec. on a different note....a better solution...call Georg at Valley Hybrids.....

I believe the sn for the block in on the front driver side....right there by the front of the cylinder head. Go with the shot block assembly reference for lower engine parts...rather than the cylinder heads if there is a reason to think the parts are from different year models. Its true that basically one 5.7 is similar to another on the lower end, but good to know where if any differences are.

above is one link to the AA site, but I would start with discussions with Georg to get to the bottom of the issue and the right parts...

Probably will need details of your clutch setup too.

Slave is Toyota judging by the pic

i sent a message to @Downey just now. he seems to be very active on here still, so hopefully he can point me in the right direction.

has anyone seen one of the throw out bearing "hubs" for sale? looks as if the T/O bearing is pressed into one....
