There’s a company called Rohmy that makes a snorkel delete kit, kinda pricey for what you get though.
I gritted my teeth, swallowed hard, and installed the factory dorkel. I can’t tell if I love it because it makes the truck original to its design, or if I hate it because it’s a snorkel and I hate snorkels. Either way, it has Speed Grooves ™️ on the side.

@FJBen I… I… Think I might like it. Just a little bit.

It is pretty deeply satisfying to line the bed up, and have all of the bolts just drop in and fit perfectly. Like this was built by someone who knew exactly what they were doing. Thank you, @joekatana for building such an awesome truck for me.

Nate is enjoying hanging out in the truck while I put the bed hardware on.

Anyone have a source for the big white screws in the bed that hold the headache rack on? I’ll ask Stedman.

I want to keep stealing stuff from the double cab, but I guess I will hold off…for now.

Toyota must’ve been like “it’s a work truck, don’t use a lot of paint”.

Just to add a little tech to the glamour shots, added the second locking gas cap from the key set.

I cleaned six years of dirt and crap from the bed by using the tailgate chains the way that Toyota intended.

It’s very sad but the paintquality on these newer 7x models is subpar to the older models . I have seen some new models on ngo parking lots with surface rust popping up after being parked outside for a year or so .

Industrial fallout?

I don’t know, CDan. There’s enough rotting carcasses around this joint that look like industrial fallout. And I didn’t even have to stand up to take those pictures.

But on a serious note, I need an opinion here I ordered some heavy duty aluminum mesh from customcargrills.com. It is way superior in strength and quality to the Amazon stuff. Who knew?

I cut it out and fitted it, but man, it sure looks transparent.

Should I:

1. Spray paint the PDI intercooler black, so the grill looks more homogenous.
2. Run it just like this and put a floating TOYOTA emblem right in the middle.
3. Get some thick thick mesh.
4. Just call @kelly saad and have him laser cut something rad.

The good stuff. It’s thicker.

The Amazon. It’s thinner.

Final hack job of plastic grill.

Too see-through?

Is a tighter / smaller mesh available?

Yes and I thought it looked WORSE in pictures.

Maybe I’ll just call customcargrills.com on Monday and ask for which other products has the best opacity but still allowing airflow.

Definitely paint the PDI away unless they are paying you to advertise for them.

There is a metals place in dallas that has all kinds of stamped sheet goods. I’ll dig up their info and post it.
