Tucker, I’m on call this weekend so I may not have any more time to work. But all I need to do is bolt calipers and rotors, bleed the brakes, and change one freeze plug on the block… In theory it could be driving around the ranch very soon.

And yeah, the whole purpose of doing the single cab first was to make all the mistakes on this one so that the double cab will be more streamlined, more efficient, and a better build.

That double cab is the thing dreams are made of... this single is no slouch either.

Ian I am palpably excited.

Tech time: Because I know there are a couple different variations, here is the fan shroud I used. Documenting it so I don’t forget.

Because this FTE is a late euros spec with EGR cooler there’s an extra water pipe at the right rear. I had to order a freeze plug from Partsouq. Because I want to fill the engine with coolant and possibly even drive it this weekend, I used what I had at hand for a temporary solution.

Problem solved. No, problem squished down, just like we do with our feelings,

I had the overflow bottle but no bracket, so it’s hanging on by one bolt until the bracket arrives.

I filled the radiator with 2.5 gallons of Toyota red and let it idle. It just purrs.

Gotta feed my kids dinner and maybe I attack some brakes tonight.

Looks like a sacrificial anode... made a good plug, but what is it?

That is a rear brake cylinder slide pin (47715-22010) from an 80 series… Found it in the trash pile and it just made the perfect fit.

And I say “trash pile” like it’s a very small and isolated place. It’s more like a trash quadrant, or everything under the stainless work table in the corner…

If it went on a Land Cruiser then it's not trash ;)

The "trash pile"? Ha...

Ok ok ok the “currently unutilized extras” pile.

The age old refrain:

Hood catch, cable, and mounting clips.

Sometimes I’m proud that 2020 me thought far enough ahead.

Last night for some crazy reason, I just had an inkling to clean out the cab, organize all the parts for the dash and cab, and put the front seat together. I just wanted to sit in a driver’s seat and turn a key and have a truck start.

I found and plugged in the AC amplifier. It has a specific bracket and stands vertically just to the left of the glove box opening.

Close to factory assembly line project here! Nice work!

Ha. Absolute perfection? More like intermittent absolute OCD.
