Look at all posts up to your first, #31, all was ok, then you showed up and threw the first stone......s***e, I said I was done, but

282k. Stock bushings, stock ride. Service reports never indicated a change in bushings. Front and rear sway bar bushings are torn. Other bushings appear dry and are cracking. Currently driving about 1k miles monthly-highway driving during the weekdays and unimproved roads and trails on the weekends (ex. mormon well road outside of Vegas).

Let's see pics of your sick ride

probably not a good idea. i already am banned from slinky long travel kits, don’t need any extra grief.

How does he know that WE are not mechanics ?
:slap:

just like if a medical doctor and someone on webMD were arguing, it’s usually obvious who is a professional.

folks, this thread is very quickly become stupid. i dished out some s*** talking to anyone dishing it my way and the response was a whole lot of butthurt.

keep it on topic, and keep your feelings out of the discussion if you can’t keep facts in it.

*additional argument*

if radius arms are so good why does the bushings in the 4 link rear significantly outlast the radius arm bushings? because links outperform radius arms. that’s why.

Cool, I’m at 284,000 miles, original bushings I would bet. I would say this truck had been a city cruiser all its life before I got it.
I will only do about 6-8000 miles a summer as an Overlander.

So you are assuming no one in this s*** chat are licensed mechanics? Sorry your butt hurts 😱

I just replaced the chassis side bushings today. Here are some shots of my rubber caster Dobinsons bushings.
10k miles on them, truck is mostly daily driven but it has seen action at:
Hard Rock 4x4 park
Charlie Creek trail
Hurricane Creek trail
Croom
Citrus Wildlife preserve

The bushings look great to me, no cracks or dryness.

The ones in the picture above are offset caster correction bushings.
I noticed that. Thus my self-answered question about whether or not they make non-corrective ones.

I thought I was in a jeep forum there for a minute...

Tech: My original OEM bushings lasted 20 years and ~265k...cruiser was stock during this timeframe. Put in OME CC bushings around the same time it was lifted and only lasted less than two years before I swapped out for OEM bushings and plates.

If anyone doesn’t understand......

why did the OME bushing Last so long?

Because hot soccer moms only off-road at the Mall for 150k of the 80’s life.

Banned? lol by who? #fakenews.
I'd also like to see your ride and 3-link setup.
This isnt a debate about what is better. Everyone knows that full carbon brakes on a Ferrari are better than solid steel rotors and single pot piston calipers on a 1980s 2wd minitruck, but we're not putting full carbon brakes on the minitruck. Not everyone needs them. 3-link is pointless for 95% of 80 owners.

His 3 link is mystical unless pics get posted :meh:

I think I’m gonna put Moog rear lower control arm bushings on one side and OEM on the other. I don’t wheel it hard enough or often enough to wear things out quick, but I’ll report if it when the bushings wear out. Maybe the 42’s and cummins will put more force on them.

Edit: here the Moog, waiting on partsouq for OEM. Sleeved & lengthened lower next to half an upper

I tore the beck/Arnley bushings after 1000 miles snd two wheeling trips. I stopped wondering why people pay for oem bushing.

But I’m sure brands like moog and Febest are good but it seems like their quality fluctuates and what was a quality product 2-5 years ago might not be now. The same thing might be said about oem bushings in 3 years and someone else will have the most consistently good product. Who knows🤷🏽‍♀️

One of the biggest problems causing the short life of bushes is the installation. For example the left hand example of the above pair of arms the bush appears to have been installed incorrectly?

And then before bolting these things up the vehicle has to be unloaded and on it's wheel at factory weight.

FWIW non voided or solid rubber bushes can tear in very short order.

Regards

Dave
