I had the part time kit on the shelf for quite a while. Finally put it in. I am pretty picky about how it drives and tracks down the highway.

Wow. Lightened up the steering feel a lot which is very welcome. Tracks on the freeway very nice (about 3.5 caster) and coasts when you let off the gas. Acceleration in 2wd is really brisk compared to AWD. I did not realized what a drag the AWD is for both speeding up and slowing down. I loved driving this rig before but now, oh yeah. One tank of fuel so far. Looks like 1 mpg increase but not enough data/too many variables in mixed driving.

Even without the mpg improvement, I would do it again. Mostly stock rig. Nice work CruiserOutfittters!

Other than OEM options, what wheels are people running with their part time kits? I've seen the Rays and SCS offerings. Anyone get Method wheels or other brands to fit? I'm looking for a 17 with preferably a positive offset.

I roll on Icon Rebounds, no issue at all.

No issue with Method 305s.

@cruiseroutfit do you know if the center bore of the Rock Warriors is wide enough to fit the part time hub? I’ve seen the build you included in a FB post from 7.20.22 where the owner used spacers. Do you happen to know what size spacer is required to run the part time kit and rock warriors?

Hub diameter should clear any wheel that will fit your cruiser. the hubs stick out a bit further than the drive flanges. they are a few mm proud of the face of a stock center cap.

I saw that the rock warriors taper down to an approx 95mm bore. I wasn’t sure if the part time portion would fit through that.

The picture here is with either 1.25 or 1.5 in spacers.

How does it drive?
Despite a certain YouTube video of a seasoned 4x4 specialist claiming it is a waste of money and terrible modification it is one of if not the best mods I have done to my cruiser. In combination with the 10% underdrive gears it feels like a whole different vehicle.

In short, I love it. It will make my drive to Colorado much more enjoyable later this summer.

Haha - I watched that video too.

Any gear whine with the 10% underdrive?

Maybe some light gear whine over stock. I don't really notice it over the Duratracs, which are not terrible but also not quiet tires. Either way not enough to stop me from doing it again.

What video is this? I’m not up to speed on YouTube experts.

Genuinely appreciate the honest review. And glad to hear you have no regrets!

Not sure its been discussed yet, but how much slop is expected in the driveline after installing the kit? Im having mine slam when putting it in gear, and ive checked my u-joints and they look fine
