SL is coming along nicely.....should have it in some background shots of my 79 maybe sometime next week. We will have the interior to do once it gets back. Jon's 993TT was one of my favorite builds but his Speedster build will be the ultimate. That's the car I want to build....I'm building it my way too....don't tell Jon. lol.

I could fit a lot of chicks in that bed if they're the right size....

Got this pic yesterday of a cool little bin I am going to get for the back wall of the 79.....

As much as I love my truck.....this is what my heart really desires. I think this is what I will chase next. Either I will buy it piece by piece or hopefully find one like the one I had....just a body. I've already got my feelers out.

More stuff crossed off the list today....fuel filler for rear tank(only tank on my truck) is done...had to shorten it a little and slightly change the angle of it. Not a big deal. Finished the passenger side mudflap(almost). Had to rotate the flap part and trim it down to make it work right(it has 3 holes for the stock width of the metal mud flap mount...the addition of the mud flap extension adds another hole...I would guess there are specific mudflaps that I did not get with my rear fenders. I don't want long flaps....just about 3" will do. We'll tidy that one up tomorrow...pic shows the uncut flap. Drivers side will more than likely need some clearance work for the exhaust although Toyota was kind enough to put a cutout in it for the exhaust...just so happens that I think it might clear my exhaust. Because of my bed mounts, we're having to do a little inner clearance work on the metal flaps...pretty easy.

I guess the Unleaded Fuel Only/Diesel cap/sticker could cause an issue....a costly one if somebody chooses the wrong fuel. I think I'll find a new cap.

Received some underhood goodies....since I bought a used supercharger, some of the parts were missing and some were just crappy. I found a slick 180 degree silicone hose in 3" that was the perfect size to get me over to my relocated air filter canister. Almost as if it was designed specifically for this application. Decided ot not measure the AFM....it's 3.5"...had to order a 3.5 to 3" adapter. Need to get the supercharger mounted up for good at some point I suppose....we keep adding parts on...things are getting crowded under the hood. When I started this, I thought I'd have underhood room for all kinds of things. Not so.....

Heater valve was installed....modified the factory metal tube that snakes from the block to behind the plenum and up to the valve on the 1FZ. I had a bunch of misc bends and heater hoses from the 80 series system......made a cut or 2 and it fit better than OEM(from what I can tell, OEM doesn't use a whole lot of aluminum tubing...just a little piece...it has a bunch of complex moulded hoses). Mine will be good because its serviceable with 80 series parts and it works. Operation of the temp control on the HVAC panel is as smooth as can be. Cross it off the list.

By pad do you mean rubber gasket? If so, we left those off until we paint the fenders...then we'll install them. Just going thru our test fitting stuff now....

Maybe paint next week for them.....

Will you have a cover on the back? If not won't this fill up with rain? What would you put in that bin anyway?

Great build by the way! :)

Thanks....

That bin is on the inside of the cab....you can kind of see it in this pic. I'm not sure what I'll put in the bin.....I just know I need it. lol. It's not accessible while driving on my truck(I have a bench-type seat)....maybe just some tools or little odds and ends.

I will have a cover on the bed at some point.

Originally it did.....Unleaded Fuel Only stickers courtesy of my Toyota dealer.

The fuel cap from my fj62 fit the 79 filler neck. Just sayin. And it doesnt say diesel on it

Sent from my phone using IH8MUD

That's what I need....I think I ordered one a while back but it's 'hiding' somewhere. Not sure where the diesel cap even came from. Might have part of the fuel filler assembly. I've lost track of a couple parts(maybe more) over the past 2.5 years.....lol.

I have one of those little tubs in the shed, i found it more useless and a space hog than good.
With that gone i could fit the snatch strap, compressor, fire extinguisher, fully sic sub woofer, etc behind the seats

trucks coming along nice it will look alot neater and finished when you put the 80 series alloy wheels on it.

Blimey Clint you must be sitting on top of the steering wheel to fit all that behind the seats. :) Can you post a link to some pictures?

Keep in mind Clint is only 5'-4" tall and weighs 145 pounds. ( he sets on a cushion to see over the steering wheel ) :D

No 80 series wheels on my truck Clint.....I do have a set of 4Runner alloys that look pretty good but I'm in love with my steel wheels. I've had them on every TLC I've owned. I think they've all been grey too. lol.

This was my last 40....had her for 20 years. I went out of my way to get those wheels...way before the internet made it easy to find stuff. I got those a LONG time ago...

It was worth a shot ;)

They don't look so bad at all with a nice offset or a widened rim,
Maybe you could give those steelies on your 79 a nice deep dish

Finished up the rear of the truck....got the fuel filler sorted out. I used the one for the cab and made it fit our rear tank...just needed a little taken out. Lines up perfectly.

Sorted out my tail lights....my rear tail light panel was really tweaked. A fork lift must have gotten it at some point. Fortunately where the major dent is, I'll be able to cover it with my license plate(hopefully....not sure how the rear bumper will fit). In any event, we straightened that out and popped in the lights. So basically, the back of the truck is done.

Drivers side mudflap is done...didn't need any mods for the exhaust. I like them with the shorty flap on them.

Next week we get into underhood stuff and sort out coolant lines(bypassing throttle body coolant line), vacuum lines(both of these related to the supercharger). Need to get AC lines handled. Need to mount condenser. Not much left under there.

Then we move on to the interior....debating a Lizard Skin type heat barrier/sound control product. Thinking I might add it later if I find it necessary.....I don't think I'll need it in this truck.

Will those mud flaps ever see mud? :D
