I really need the help of one of you 2H guys.

This is a pic of the rear isolation mount that is directly underneath the rear tranny x-member. In the pic you can see my finger next to a half moon on the one side of the iso mount.

Can one of you guys crawl underneath your rig put your had up there and feel if that half moon is facing towards the front or the rear? I'm not sure if it matters, the mount looks the same either way except for that? I just figured if someone could tell me what there's is, I could get it back in there the same way it came out?

This may even be the same mount on the newer 2F Troopys as well?

Thanks in adavance

Matt

Matt:

The isolator is more specific to the transmission than the engine. A BJ, FJ, or HJ would all use the same part, if from the same vintage.

I've got the same isolator under the H55f that's going into Dad's 40. I do know that it fit either way without a problem. But since ours wasn't original like this, I don't know what's the right way to do it...

Looking good sir! I don't remember seeing it mentioned--are you adding a turbo to your 2H?

Dan

Matt,

The troopie i'm driving has the half moon pointed towards the back and i parted out a troopie last november and the 4 speed left over also has the half moon pointed towards the back. The one i parted out i'm sure never had any work done to it by the look of things.

HTH,

I agree that battery tray is a sweet :).

Got a little care package yesterday from Canada, specificlly Awl_Teq in Calgary. My orginal battery tray was pretty chewed up from battery acid over the years. The hold down rods had also been cut and scab welded together a little shorter. Instead of trying to clean that up, I decide to go with one of his Stainless Steel battery tray's.

I wish I had more to report, but I did get a little something done this weekend. Saturday I hauled the drivetrain into work to wash it up and get it ready for paint. Pretty easy to move since I fabbed up that stand right after I took it out so I could move it around and paint it easily. Really doesn't look like much, and it isn't, but it did take over 2 hours of just pressure washing and a gallon of castrol super clean.

I've mentioned it before, I have no intentions to do anything real special with the drivetrain. It ran awesome prior to disassembly, and I am a firm believer in, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I was planning on using some foo foo can black engine paint from the local auto parts store. But I looked on Eastwoods site for fun and they had a 2 part engine paint good to 650 degrees, supposedly glossed up nice. It was $50 bucks for the quart of paint and 8 oz of catalyst. Who knows if it will be any better or worse...well see I guess?

I may take a few hours off of work this week and try to get some paint on it.

Thanks to everybody who posted up on the tranny mount!

Looks like the majority vote is tab facing towards the back, so that's what it will be. I still think it probably wouldn't matter but figured I would put it back to stock.

Wonder, did 2H's come painted blue from the factory? Amazing to see that clean engine hiding under all that grime. Anybody know what kind of header that is? I'm assuming it's not stock...

don't know why not. I have had both blue and orange 13BT's, and the 1HZ's I have had were black, but that's a more modern engine.

Got a care package from Cruiserdan a few days ago....OEM bumperettes.....mmmmmm........

I may be wrong Matt, but I reckon you've got those on backwards; the bend is meant to be facing toward the tailights.

Now all you need is a troopy to put over that frame, and you will have the nicest rig in town:D

He already has two of the nicest rigs in town anyway :p

There's a long thread in the 40 series section about the orientation of the bumperettes...

Pacemaker header is off to Jet hot coatings in Oklamhoma today to get the JH2000 treatment in gray. I'm looking forward to seeing that when it's done! :)

Not that cool cruisers site is correct, but according to them I have them on right?

http://coolfj40.stores.yahoo.net/bum19thru19.html

I also put them on the left and right side according to the Toyota packaging they came in. Both sides said left and right on the OEM packaging respectively. I honestly think I have them on correctly?

Those bumperettes are on correctly,I have a 38k original 45 swb with the original bumperettes and they are the same, and have never been touched! Truck looks awseome, dont know where you find the time!

Whops, looks like I'm the one who has to turn my bumperettes around. I have a factory sales Toyota brochure from 1972 which shows them the other way, so that is the way I have been orienting mine.
