Matt, how much paint are you mixing for each batch? I know it's a stupid question, just trying to get an idea how the process works.

It depends, the last pic was about 1.5 qts of sprayable primer, that's 2 parts primer, 1 part catalyst and about 10% reducer.

I actually just finished off the first gallon of DP90LF last night. That frame burned up probably around a half gallon, not a huge amount of surface area but lots of nooks and crannys. I had the DP48 and DP50 on the shelf for the rims and shocks. Going to call up to the auto parts store today and get another gallon of DP90 today. I will only use about another quart out of it, but seems like I'm always using that stuff for something.

Once again, nothing exciting. Got home tonight and cleared those parts I had primed on Tuesday night in the booth.

I'm hoping to prep some front end axle parts Friday night and get them ready for blasting Saturday morning. After blasting a few pieces I want to get those in the booth along with the remaining pieces I had blasted a couple weeks ago. I reallly hope I can shoot primer and clear on Saturday, and then be done painting...at least for a few days. ;)

Pics might be a little grainy, took them with my blackberry which is only 3.2 mp. I accidently ran the cannon powershot through the washer Tuesday night after I was done painting....

Wondering if any of you guys have run into this?

I ordered up a poly bushing kit and shackle kit from SOR a couple weeks ago. Got it out of the box on Wed. to do a little fit up and check everything. I went to slide the bushings into the spring hangars on the frame and the springs themselves to check the fit. The bushings more or less set in, they did not have to be pushed in. I would say a good .010" to small if not more. I checked the I.D. of the hangars with the digital caliper. Pretty consistent at 1.375". The springs all came in around 1.400". I checked the o.d. of the SOR bushing, about 1.360".

I called POSER to see if he had anything on the shelf. He had some OME bushings that measured about 1.380", but he only had 14. I called Kurt at Cruiser outfitters. He had 3 brands: OME, Energy suspension, and stock bushings. He measured everyone of those and they all came in at about 1.360" ish.....

I guess the bushings I have installed in the past have all had to be tapped in, or at least pushed in by hand.

Anyone else ever run into this?

And sorry again for the crappy pics. Fired up the ebay today and got another Cannon power shot coming, should be here next week.

Well....I got to sandblast and paint more this weekend

Fairly boring stuff but needs to be done. I also got a little time on the frame and other parts with a little assembly. Managed to get get the leaf springs hung underneath it and the rear axle in place. Few other misc. parts bolted on here and there. I chucked up a 8mm tap in the cordless drill and went around on the frame and cleaned out all the captive nuts, that actually took quite a bit of time.

Hoping to tinker away on it this week. Maybe start putting that front axle back together.

Small update. Just picked up my new rubber at the tire shop. Went with the 235/85 R16's. That is the size that was on there and I thought it looked nice.

Also got a couple pics from Aqualu yesterday, looks as though the side panels for the troopy are being CNC'd out! :)

thanks

Matt,
I am attaching a picture that I hope you will appreciate. It is a result of your previous thread on your lv. Thanks to one of your many"step by step" tutorials, I have completed my lv bumper, bent from a piece of 3/8.... as you instructed. It turned out great.....thanks to you. Your photos and details have helped me raise the bar on my own expectations. Keep up the good work.

Thanks again,
Dukes

Dukes,

That is awesome to see, looks like it turned out great!!

I think that is what I find so great about ih8mud. I just love the ability for people to share there ideas and bounce them off of fellow enthusiast's here on this forum. The end result I think is a better idea and ultimately a better finished product!

Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming!!

Got a couple hours on the troopy tonight. U bolted in both the front and the rear axle. I can't bolt the front tires on yet, but thought it would be better if the axle was mounted to something when I start rebuilding it in case I need to get a little rough with it. I just wanted to make sure it didn't fall on the floor or anything. I did get the rear wheels on and got the rear of the frame off the saw horse and sitting on the rear wheels now.

And I did get my new camera yesterday, so the pics should be a little better quality....and hopefully I can refrain from running this one through the washer.

Question on this next set of pics.

Bolted in the tranny x-member tonight just for fun..mostly to get it out of my way and keep it from getting damaged.

I believe I have the x member bolted in correctly, the rear mount is shifted towards the left? Next question, you can see the pic I took of the isolation mount itself, there is a little half moon tab sticking out in the center. Does that face forward or back? Not sure if it matters or not from what I can see, but figured I would bolt it back in the same way it came out?

If someone could look on there troopy or something and post up a pic, that would be great.

Thanks in advance, Matt

One more question. Is this x memeber between the rear pins that holds that drive shaft cage positioned correctly? Seems like the only way it should be, but want to make sure?

That's crazy, wonder why you would need that piece? What useful purpose does it serve?

in case the joint fails, it keeps the shaft from causing too much damage when it's flailing around. usually used in high speed applications

Once again, nothing that special to report. Pretty much spent the better part of the afternoon rebuilding the front axle. I had everything ready to go, so it was pretty much assembly. I had to clean the bolts and a few misc. parts as I was reassembling, so that eats up some time.

I've got a pile of very small parts I need to get blasted and painted, so I can keep moving ahead with bolting parts to the frame. I really would like to get the motor set back in, so not sure what I'm going to do next. Motor really isn't going to be anythng that hard or special. Probably drag it into work and spend an hour or 2 with the pressure washer. Hose it down with laquer thinner and then give it the foo foo engine paint treatment. Really don't want to do anything to drastic since the thing ran so good. I guess I'll see what kind of mood I'm in this week. ;p

Couple more useless pics from today. At least it's off the saw horse's and back on all 4 wheels again.
