I took my date to senior prom in a 1976 Kenworth so... same thing, basically.

the lyrics are:
Was the dark of the moon on the sixth of June
In a Kenworth pullin' logs
Cab-over Pete with a reefer on
And a Jimmy haulin' hogs

And the classic line "Bull dog Mack with a can on the back"
Great song, great movie.

And transmission Marlin Crawler shipped weeks ahead of schedule!!

truly starting build on Wednesday:pig::pig::pig::pig::pig::pig::pig:

Measure, cut, measure, cut, measure, measure, grind, ratchet strap, cut, strap, weld

cut 5.5” out of 80 frame to get wheel base to match 55+ 1/2”. Moves front axle forward a little.

Location was selected because 1)There was a factory seam on the inside of the frame already 2) frame was straight here 3) radius arm mount acts as a scab plate. The 80 frame is like 2 pieces of C channel welded together, one a little larger than the other, not a piece of tubing.

-and put on 35”s and FJC 17”s

-when grinding for hours: old nomex flight suit, face mask, safety glasses, backwards hat, grinding mask, ear plugs, gloves. And patience.

Grind, cut, grind, cut, grind, grind, cut

break welding machine:doh: don’t get to finish scab plates.

frame is pretty damn clean though! Brackets and brake lines and ABS stuff and exhaust mounts and and and and it’s all cut off!!

-my 55 gallon tank will fit! Just need to make some mounts. 55 actually has 3-4” more frame behind the rear axle than the 80 does.

-transmission showed up!

So, if you can’t tell, after the trail tailor fiasco, I was looking and measuring 80 and 55 parts and decided to go with a body swap. I think it will be easier and cleaner than trying to swap 80 suspension or even put leaves on the 80 rear axle with all the brackets on it. I love driving an 80, and one that has a V8, manual, and has a Pig body will just be the coolest s*** ever.

.....pulling the pig body tomorrow.... the entire chassis is going to good home....:pig::pig::pig::pig:

agree that it’s easier, though you have to make custom brake lines. NBD.

agree that it’s cool s***.

the 62 on a locked fjz80 frame projectnis nearly back together, and I plan a 55 project with nearly the same combo.

What is stock angle from the back radius bolt to the center of the axle tube?
