Mine was longer than his when I was his age! Then when everyone started wearing it long i went to the Barber and, he asked how i would like it! I replied shave it all off. He replied Crew cut, i said No right down to the Bone!! He said it was the most hair he's ever cut off anyone in his 30 years of being a Barber 😂🤣🤣😂

Got the stupid LX out of the shop and Her Piggieness back in the pen. More of a moral victory than anything else.

If i was a baller, I would have just ordered an engine for $2k, but I’m not, so I spent 3-4 days buying a wrecked truck, dragging it home, and parting it to get a “free” engine.

Like everyone else, trying to find a rhythm with everything shut down and the kids out of school until Aug. I think I got it worked out where I can come to shop a few hours a day without getting into too much trouble. Try to bring a kid to give ‘em some edumacatin.

Nothing better than kids learning to use there hands 👍✋. Starting to become a lost art! Hopefully not forever 🤔

Yessir.

I want them to have the confidence to tackle unknowns and also see it’s better to makes lots of $$ and pay schmucks like me to work on their stuff.

How are you planning on tackling the wiring? The later model motors can be a pain!
Thanks
Mike

Had a solid hour of analysis paralysis today. Just stared at all the stuff in shop for my build, my customers build, the three trucks outside, and the 55 inside. Couldn’t decide what to do next because there are so many things to do, so I just wandered around and did nothing.

Want to get the drive train bolted together and set in Pig to look at body clearances, radiator clearance, drive line angled and such, and then make the body mounts once I see how it all fits.

So I broke down the two mini-truck cases, cleaned until I ran out of cleaning supplies, installed the 23spline goodies, and got it tested before supper time. Been a long time since I had cases like this apart.

My friend Ben Swain is the head sales guy/shop manager at Slee Offroad. He pushed all the Toyota stuff to its limits, and now has sold out and had a super nice, 700hp, all domestic/aftermarket Ultra4 car. BUT, back when he was cool, he had an all Toyota, 2UZ, automatic, 23 spline cases, Diamond Axled 80-ish axles, and raced on 44” tires.

.... he ended up blowing it all to pieces, but I still think I’ll be ok with the old cases that came out behind 4cyl trucks.

Im not sure if it’s silly or not to have dual cases in an “overland” truck, but they are soooo nice Offroad and will help with driveline angles I think too.

When they are working on your ECU computer are they going to remove the rev limiter?
I think if you are truly planning on being a Toyota nerd god with mini truck dual cases you'll need 10,000 + RPM when bouncing up the rock piles. Beer cans flying out of your ice chest when you yard sale back down would definitely put you over the top.

Yes to all of this.

Does the front apron not sit on the 80 series front crossmember?

Body isn’t bolted down, it’s slid forward some pushing it in and out of the shop. That crossmember is also bent from where the 80 got wrecked. Have to straighten it out. It “should” line pretty close.

He looks about as thrilled as my 13 year old would be if I had him wrenching with me!

I'll have to find a pic of my Boy's hair before he decided to cut it ~a year and a half ago.

What year LX did you end up scoring? Does it still have any AHC left on it? How many miles?

Those are pretty nice engines. I threw new plugs in the :princess: LX last week. Getting ready to wire in some outlets this weekend. Great Cruiser...

Respect - an important part of project prep is proper contemplation.

Why not throw them boxes in there? You've got the boxes and you have the real estate...

Thanks for the updates
