Can anyone think of a reason why this wouldn’t work to mount the RTT to on a 5x8 utility trailer? I probably wouldn’t use the clamps and would just drill into the feet and bolt the racks down to the trailer sides. Looks beefy and the fabricator hasn’t responded back to my questions about adding wheels so I am going it alone.

If there is a better product, I am all ears.

Or perhaps this one:
Ultra-Tow 4-Post Utility Truck Rack — 800-Lb. Capacity, Steel | Northern Tool + Equipment

Edit: I like the look of the one from Northerm Tool....and I think I can adjust the load brackets to face down and attach stuff under the RTT. Found a coupon for $20 and free shipping as well......

As long as you add some stabilizer jacks to the trailer I would think it would work fine.

Maybe but id rather not if me. While its not 800lb the rocking and bouncing of off road should be accommodated for if thats the planned use.

The design makes it hard to gusset the bottom but some diagonal bracing or any laterals to connect the two will help.

Not going to work. The bar clamps stick up too far for the tent to flatten out.

Other than that I think it would be secure enough to the trailer. Also, the ad and manual both say it is 36” tall....the crossbar is actually 27” tall (the dimension that matters) and the VERY top of the clamp is at 30”. Not sure how they measured this thing. It has to go back anyway due to the clamps.

Riser blocks for the tent

Whats the 27” so important for. Clearance below. Or roof height? Seems lower wouldnt hurt for most folks.

Hab four fabricator guy weld a 1” square stock with 2” stand off legs and your clearance is there And you have a better flat surface to run a bolt through to the tent.

I considered risers of some sort, but I want the height in order to put bikes, etc under the tent. If they were 36” to the crossbar it would have been perfect. Also, if I put risers it will change the orientation of how the tent is mounted and I want to be able to deploy it to the side of the trailer.

I tried to open my tent for the first time today, but the stands I have it on are too tall so it hits the ceiling of my carport. So far, I have not seen the ladder or the travel cover. Hopefully they are both tucked in the tent somewhere. My brother is coming over to help me move it and get it mounted tomorrow

All the parts are accounted for! So far, I'm impressed. What do you guys do for sheets? I'm thinking of laying on a flat sheet. We are camping in GA on Labor day, so we won't need much of a blanket. Maybe another flat sheet and a light blanket on top of us. I'd like to have a fitted sheet that fits this, but not sure how I'd find one. Also, I was thinking of using another memory foam topper. Anyone successfully done this? Will the tent still fold up normally with the mattress topper in it?

We sleep in bags. I use a cheap foam roll-up camping mat from Walmart under my bag for a little more firmness as well as cushioning. We haven’t been using a sheet but I have heard that a cheap denim painting blanket works great as a topper to keep your mattress looking new. Wash the paint blanket a couple of times and it will soften up. You can leave that in the tent. We take our bags and pads out every time.

On another note, if I had paid $2000 for this tent my biggest complaint would be the ability for bugs to easily enter. The big holes at the joints will allow ant or other bugs to crawl on in.

How does the changing room attach to this? Zipper or does it have a channel that it slides into? Does anyone have the dimensions of where the changing room would go? I’m trying to see if one from Tepui would work.

I believe it's a zipper. I'm really interested in your findings I need a place for the dogs to sleep

I am finally going to mount mine this weekend and figure it out. If it is a zipper then I will have to make sure the zippers are the same type/teeth.

I need to figure out which ones use zippers and which use the slide in.

I use a set of target microfiber sheets in my teardrop. they dont retain heat and moisture
