So wish I could have got in on this. Great brand of tent.

I'm starting to lean more towards a RTT. Great for and easy to explore with and not too hard to take off if running harder trails and have a safe campsite to leave it at like at the group site in Uwharrie.

I found a Front Runner RTT on Marketplace and the guy said he would take $600 for it. I don’t know him....he had a trailer for sale that I asked about....but I am just going to have someone weld a frame on my utility trailer so I can put the RTT on it for easier storage and travel.

That's the best of both worlds really... travel trailer. Leave it set up hit the trails come back. A travel trailer is in my future.

Next step....top ‘o the roof.

Another benefit of a RTT?

Transmission shop in seedy side of town said “we’ve been keeping it in the shop since you left your camping thing on there”

So I messed around with the tent some this evening and I’m trying to figure out if the bar that supports the overhang that covers the entryway can be left in place and folded up or do you unhook it and slide it back in the tent like the way it came in the box? I tried it and it didn’t want to fold all the way up, just don’t know if I’m missing something.

That is a great question that I would also like to know the answer to. I haven’t set up that part yet so I just left the bar like it was when I opened it up. That would be awesome if it could stay in place though.

I’m pretty sure the entry bar has to come out when you fold the tent back up. I couldn’t figure out how to leave it in.

That’s what I was thinking just wanted to be sure. Next question is what are these for?

There are little hoops on the ceiling of the tent. I figured they were for hanging clothes and things in there?

You install these inside the tent before you pack it up. They help pull the tent fabric in to make it pack up easier.
Yes. There are loops sewn into the sides. These bungees are optional but if you attach them inside before you close it up they pull the sides in as it folds so there is less tucking to do around the outside before you put on the cover.

This is awesome, that's the worst part about taking this thing down. As soon as I get a chance I'm going to put these things on and set it up, just to take it down. Is this the sort of thing you learn from reading directions?

I watched some videos on other brands of RTT's. There were several vids of the Smittybilt tent and one of those explained the bungees. The directions in the Mombasa suck.

I think I am going to take my utility 5x8 ‘Lowe’s special’ trailer and have a frame mounted onto it for the RTT. I can’t get in the garage with it on my LC....I called a fabricator/welder and gave him all of the dimensions and he said it would be about $350-400 unpainted....which is fine bc I have plans for the paint. ;-)

Does that seem like a decent price? It is a legitimate business....not a shady tree welder.

He is going to make it so that it is removable in case I need the trailer for other trailer things. I put decking wood on the floor of the trailer today and some hooks for tie downs.... and also some flush mount d-rings.

Very fair for a custoM job in my opinion. Have you looked at standard ladder bars to see if a non custom one will work?
