It has a tent on top of the camo shell.

It's got Dobinsons MRR. 34s. Really excellent at everything. Rocks. Sand. Speed. Genuine perfect platform. The long bed is tits.

It's always great to have a pickup in the crew for firewood duties too.
Is there some Toyota electronic traction magic in the Taco that made it that much more capable than the other rigs, or was it just a weight issue?

It's got all the gadgets a 200 has except cutting brake. Laird is an exceptional driver for one but the weight, wheelbase seem perfect on the Taco

Would love to buy you a beer if you make it up into the Washington Cascades. I've been enjoying your travel reports for years.
Nice to know someone is in the area. Will be looking for a place to park some rigs then fly out of Seattle.

Fun trek

I am a couple hours east of Seattle, but plenty of room to park here if you need it.
May be our play. Message me your cell and address and I'll check it out

Moar antennas needed.
None of that s*** ever works. I end up loaning him my $12 Beofeng every trip

Also he's trading that turd in for the Saudi 80 for the next leg

Yesterday was my 5th anniversary with the Whale. Saturday we fly to Oregon for part 3 of the great western ride we’ve been on. @cppilot is picking us up at the airport to take us to our trucks.

Day one. Central Oregon/The Cascades.

3 am wake up. Jackson to Houston. Houston to Phoenix. Phoenix to Medford

Met at the airport by @cppilot, a generous man that took me under his wing when I was building my 45 and shared some old stock parts out of his stash.

He drove us to the trucks. We gassed up, ate burritos, shopped and lit out over Dead Indian Parkway to Klamath Falls

The trail broke off about 1/2 way up upper Klamath Lake and took us through magnificent Ponderosa groves and over rivers.

Just south of Crater Lake I checked in with @RustyNailJustin and he shared a secret camping spot so we took a detour over

Worth it. 200 miles. We’ve been at it for 20 hours. Time to relax and have a drink.

There is a crazy amount of daylight here this time of year. We were up, fed and out by 7:30 and rolled into Crater Lake at 8

Stunning place. Hard to get it all in one photo. I wish the east side road was open. The sun would have been better.

We are following the Pacific Coast Overland Route-Oregon section. Supposed to take 14 days. We are 1/2 way through by 3 when we turn into the Lava Lands adventure trail. Another 4 days.

Awesome stuff. Most of the PCOR is 35-40 mph gravel. Once we hit Lava Lands the speeds dropped to 15-20 over most of that.

We ran into a closed gate and took the bypass around by Mt Bachelor.

We are somewhere south of that now.

12 hours. 360 off road miles.

Beat.

Another equally epic day. We finished up the Lava Lands track and jumped back on the Pacific Coast Overland track where we left off. Made it to Hood River Oregon and jumped in the nicest Best Western in the US and showered and ate a damn good dinner overlooking the Colombia River. Both of those trails were supposed to take 7-10 days. We knocked them out in 2.25 days.

Today was 345 miles. Just a bit short of what we did yesterday.

This fire scar was the most incredible thing. @RustyNailJustin was on call all day with me explaining all of it. This fire was in 2022 and nothing has regrown. Like a nuke went off.

We stopped at Newberry Volcanic Monument and made the walk. Pretty cool

@cppilot told us about this place for lunch. Amazing.

We made our way back into the woods and it rained so we could not see the mountains but there was no dust
IMG_7603.webp
IMG_7606.webp

We ran into 4 Toyotas. The only “overlanders” we have seen on the trails yet.
