I sent my Mom this link - the perfect country and western song:

Enjoying some fine swine and good people along the our anniversary trip travels. Stood at crossroads where Robert Johnson reportedly sold his soul to the devil to be able to play the blues so well. Abe’s bbq did not disappoint, killer tamales if you are down that way.

Stopped in Canton, MS and spent some time visiting with Nolen aka @wngrog, super down to earth mudder. Ate some great Q at Dreamland in Tuscaloosa before spending evening with @WarDamnEagle who has rolled out the red carpet when it comes to southern hospitality.

Last night listened to some blues at the Blue Front cafe, been there since the 40s.

Back in the 80’s the hard rock bands had a slogan “ LIVIN’ THE LIFE”. cheers to you…. Great photos🍺🍻

I just saw Jon @greenbeast and his lovely wife off. Next stop The Varsity in Atlanta for a world famous Varsity chili dog. At least that was their plan when they left. Great people!

Eating their way cross country. A valiant endeavor. Shades of my road warrior expense account days and many memorable (mostly) evenings.
A client/friend and I, both fans of good beef and strong whiskey via corporate reimbursement, once concocted the idea of the Great American Steak Out, a south to north tour of fine red meat establishments starting in Nogales and ending at the Canadian border. We compiled a list of 22 great steak places along the wandering route through AZ, NM, CO, WY and MT. Sadly, 40+ years later, many of them no longer exist. Thought we'd sell seats on a chartered bus, seek sponsorships from Coors, the American Beef Council and the American Heart Association. Coulda/shouda but it ended up being only fun bar talk.
Sounds like Jon and Kim could host a similar BBQ/music tour. SIgn me up!

Kim and I enjoy our bbq and road tripping. Lewis’s BBQ in Charleston was darn good, just finished eating “Big Bob Gibson’s” in Decatur, AL. Pic of the food is Lewis’s. Gibsons was good but no where near what Lewis’s offered.

Never realized western GA and Eastern AL were so nice!

Getting home day early so I can work on the pigs. Off to Oxford, MS for the night.
