How do y'all fit your Tuffy consoles?

It’s a snug fit but it will be fine - it definitely touches the chairs. I have the one with the stereo slot which is 8” wide at the front (remaining is 6.5”).

Any chance I could trouble you for some more pictures of your console? Maybe from the back and the top?
tThanks

I have a May model. I think you're right, 73 might be the transition year. But I have buckets.

73 was a transition year tub change with a longer inspection that would suite a four speed which Australia have in 73. Still have the old round style tail lights but new steering box. A few other things were first year while others were the last. Reverse light was still a single lamp but a single year much larger one. There may a few minor mid year changes but in general 73 started and ended the same including bucket seats. Those start 9/72. Same date the toolbox under the left seat ended.

I know this is an old thread but see that you have a ‘69. I assume you did the bucket seat conversion? If so, how did you mount your console?
I made a short bracket for the front and longer legs for the rear. It just bolts to the floor

I have the Tuffy 8" in my '77 with OEM seats. It is snug but works and I also have the issue with the shift shaft and tall drinks but I don't want to bend the shaft. I did a 7 1/2 year restoration on mine, all original. Constant travel, overseas contracts and family didn't allow a faster rebuild.

Mount the drinks holder on the backside...works surprisingly well.

Yes it’s snug but does fit. I did bend the shifting cane to give it a little more clearance

I have a tuffy 6" with the radio pocket and cup holders. My seats are aftermarket and I'm 6'8 so their position is different. The console sat too high in the front and their top cushion is really tall for my liking. I cut their mounting bracket and just used back part to clear the rear heater hoses. The frt part of the box is bolted to the stk seat crossmember. I knew i need a lock box because I dont run top, and this is a solid unit. My only minor complaint is, it's a little tight between the top of the radio and the wall of the box. My fat finger has got to be just right to turn the radio on. I'll be making a shorter top pad with some distressed leather in future.

I put the 8” wide Tuffy in my ‘77 40. I made a raised bracket for the rear using holes in Tuffy bottom. The front has a piece of wide sheet steel bent to fit seat frame with mounting holes in front to match as well as holes in Tuffy bottom. I also cut a hole in the front bracket large enough to handle all the head unit wiring.

The CCOT mounts fitment are listed as starting 10/73. My 10/72 (73 MY) has factory buckets/brackets. Is there a difference somehow for the 73MY that their bracket would not work?

Have you seen this ad in the classified section? No affiliation. 8" wide, but seem to be a decent deal. Some assembly required.
