Anybody want to build they’re own center console????

I saw a local Dallas advertisement for a raw un-finished center console that fit an FJ40. When I got there, an elderly gent was cleaning out his business and had a stack of these consoles. He explained that the shop next door used to be a metal fabricator, and that these consoles were left over from a build they had done. He had bought them to sell on, but he just put them up on top shelf and forgot about them
( he figured that it had been 20 years)
When he found out that I was an FJ40/FJ60 fan, he offered to sell all of them to me. I bought the lot of them for 50$ each. Now they’ve sat in my attic for multiple years. I had a good friend blast and powder coat a couple, then I played around finding handles, locks etc…
Vitals:
There are a few that are built specifically for FJ40s with bucket seats. They mount where the OEM was, using the same holes.

Then there are flat bottom ones that seem more universal, and would be suited to FJ60s, using an aftermarket mount bracket…

I’m moving, so I’ve brought all if them down from the attic. So I need them all to go…

Interested but I don't have factory seats on my 76 model. Do you have any dimensions maybe from the rear mounting to the top including the armrest pad?

Hello everyone,
Tomorrow I’m going to get out a sample of both types of consoles. Lots of questions on dimensions, I’ll get all the measurements and pictures so guys can see if they’ll fit.

Also, the size is just odd enough and large enough that going to do a bulk buy of correct size boxes. Might take a week to get them, but the boxes I’m finding locally are so big that they’ll incur extra shipping charges.

Ok, universal style center console is 21 long, 8 wide and 10 high—- that’s to the top of the metal. Any arm rest you put on it will add to this height

Also, notice that the top lid of console comes with 4 holes in it…. This would have been where a wood backed arm rest was screwed in. This tan one has a slip on arm rest from amazon

If you didn’t want holes to show you’ll need to weld them up before powder coating

It will need a lock installed, you’ll need to supply that and the arm to engage the lock.

The FJ40 specific console is still 21 inches long but from the rear mounts it measures 14 inches tall
