Who/what is Sb0?
Where do you get these?

I got the the starter bushings from advance auto parts, but any auto parts store should have them. Just ask for a 0 starter bushing or SB0.

To make installation easier, set the bushing in the tapered area of the arm where the cone washer goes then give it a couple light taps with a small hammer. This will taper the end making it very easy to get started. A few turns of the vice and presto, the arms are ready for stock 40 or 55 steering ends.

I've done this mod several times with great success. Just another awesome truck I learned here on mud.

Jinkees!

Borg-Warner SB0, they are copper and it helps if you cut a taper into them with shears or a cutoff wheel ;-). They don't work quite as good as the steel ones from $OR (I have worn them out wheeling), but the price is much better ...

just be careful with copper. maleable materials can get pinched out in hardcore wheeling. i had that happen after a year or so in my fj60. coming home from old chinaman gulch, we pulled over after i was having a hard time controlling my rig. found the copper bushing was toast. was able to shim it with part of a pringles can to get me home. went steel after that.

Good info to know, thanks!

Couple of "mocked up" shots of the wheels & new tires.

Mel, looking good. You going with stock hubcaps?

Thanks Bob.

Bob,

These are 16" wheels from a tundra. They came with these hubcaps, which I sold on CL already. No hub caps for HBB

Mel,

That's a great combination of tire and wheel. Looking at that tire in the wheel well, you realize, it's not a small tire.

Yeah, I'm really happy with them. I'd prefer no spacers, but these wheels were cheap and the 60 rear axle will mandate them up front since I'm running the narrower 55 housing.

Looks Killer man!

Thanks man, it's almost ready to drive over for a visit.

The new 40 relay rod is a wee bit longer than the original one from the 55. I took a lil metal off each end and it now fits perfectly.

Drove HBB today! The f.5 is so smooth and powerful. It really moves (for a cruiser) when the secondaries kick in on the weber. I

After a couple hot laps around the industrial park, the clutch slave blew out. I'm calling Toyota for a replacement master and slave. The aftermarket ones I've bought in the past never seem to last long.

Mel, looks great. What do you have for a lift? Just Shackles?

Thanks Bob.

I believe it has 2.5" lift springs as well as the longer shackles. I can't say for certain what brand it is, the truck came with this suspension already installed. The steering stabilizer says OME and it has yellow shocks.

HBB is now a rolling project. I have some cosmetics and a few issues I have to deal with, but she is roadworthy.

The back window is inop and rolled down an inch. The glass is opened just enough to suck in the exhaust. My first priority is to do what ever it takes to get it functional again. The fumes are killing me. I manually pulled the glass back up, but it lowers itself, via gravity. I won't have time to get in there until this weekend. What should I be looking for when I tear into it? Are there any parts I should go ahead and order?

Hey Mel,

Looks good sitting back there. Tailgate sounds more than a electrial problem. Somebody with tailgate smarts will step up.

What's up with parking it on the street? Wouldn't let you on the driveway. :)
