Nice.. Are they FJCruiser Rims?

No, these are 16" tundra wheels, which are going to require spacers. They were $100 on CL, and just down the street from my house. I couldn't pass them up. I'm looking at a set of "like new" of 285/75s to mount on them. If they don't look good, I'm leaning towards a new set of 255/85s.

As much as I wanted to keep HBBs patina, I ended up sanding her roof, hood and tailgate today. I chipped/ grinded out all the old seam sealer in the drip rails while I was at it. For now, it's getting covered in industrial primer and will be getting new 3m sealant.

Mel,

What width spacers, are you thinking. I've seen those wheels over on Expedition Portal, they look good.

Most likely 1". Some say 1.25" is required to prevent rubbing in the rear if you are stuffing the tire.

You are going to be so pleased when you finish this!

I'm enjoying every minute. I haven't been this excited about a vehicle for a long, long time. I had to force my self to quit working on it last night and got up extra early today to get back at it.

My brake shields had seen better days, so I ordered an eliminator kit along with some heavy duty inner axle seals. The parts were scheduled to be delivered last Friday, but didn't make it her until this morning, which held me up from making any more progress over the weekend. :(

Oh Man, those look so nice. I haven't bought tires yet, but it's a toss up between those and the Bighorns. The wagon is going to be rolling in style.

Mel, got those on my 80 series Love them. Been a BFG fan since the 70s.

Thanks Bob.:)

Cool, I've heard nothing but great things from guys who run em. Once I have this lil piggy roadworthy, I'm going to replace the lower fenders and rockers with your products. Your work is amazing!

Looks killer man. Those tires are awesome. There is a pretty good chance ill be getting a set for my 55. Had them on the Hilux, they are great on the trail and at 85mph down the road.

How did you have them balanced? I was thinking of using air soft pellets, they worked great in my mtrs. From what I have read I need 6oz per tire. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, I haven't had a spare minute to wrench on HBB. In the interim, I've been web wheeling and coming up with a billion things I'd like to do while prepping her for dd use. I ended up buying an entire 60 with roof rot. I plan on using most all of its parts on my 55s.

Since the whole front axle is apart, this is the perfect time to upgrade to front diff. I have chosen 3.7 s out of the 60, in case I ever upgrade to a 13bt. I'm not too worried about 33s and 3.7s. It's really flat here in N Florida and HBB is going to be a grocery getter anyhow. Once the front axle is together, I'm going swap over the entire rear 60 axle. This will give me a parking brake again, and save me from having swap the rear diff. The plan is to tun 1.5" spacers upfront to compensate for the different width axles.

Now, all I need is time to slap it all together!

Mel,

Sounds like a plan. You were going to run some kind of spacer anyway, for the front, right.

I just want to see them tires on there. :)
