Mel,

Sounds like a plan. You were going to run some kind of spacer anyway, for the front, right.

I just want to see them tires on there. :)

Yeah, rather than swapping the front axle I am just going to run the 55 housing with the 60 3rd and knuckles. A set of 1.5" spacers should keep everything lined up.

I had them balanced, had them use the more expensive stick on wheel weights. Had them stick them on the inside of the wheel. It was a nice clean look and stayed balanced for damn near 3 years.

I've had a nasty sinus infection sowing me down, leaving little time to do anything other than be sick. I'm feeling better so I took a little time and worked on HBB this afternoon.

The knuckles require a little wallowing out to fit the larger fj60 birfs. Luckily, I didn't have to grind out too much on either side. I've done this job before on other rigs which required a lot more pork to be pulled out of the axle housing.

I pulled the 3rd out and cleaned the old gasket off the housing. I'm a lil OCD about getting all the old crusty gasket off to ensure there will be no leaks, spending about and hour with my knife, chisel and razor blade.

So, have I screwed up here? My new wheels tundra steelies are hub centric. Can these be run on my lug centric axles. It looks like they won't work because of the lip on the inside of the wheel- pic one. The fj60 wheels are flat on their backside- pic 2. I've seen newer taco wheels on older minis but not sure how they are running them. Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions?

Cruiser karma! A total stranger saw the 55 and said he use to have one. He sold it long ago, but for whatever reason kept the mirrors. He noticed Hbb didn't have any pig ears and asked me if I wanted his set for free!

Merry Cruisermas HBB!

Mel, thats awesome they are hard to come by. Whos 40 in the garage I had the exact truck years ago.

Thanks Bob

The 40 belongs to a professor at the University. I did a 3b conversion on his brothers 62 that turned out so nice, he is having me do a frame off on his 40. The plan is to have Hbb as a running/ driving side project, while the 40 gets the works.
