Either "The Grassroots Piggie Hamom" or "Save the Piggie"

How about "Come heck or high water dangit I'm making the Pumpkin Pig Run"

Checked the air filter last night and it was reasonably clean - no oil or sooty contamination. Went to pull a plug but it was really dark out so I decided to save my knuckles. I'm going to pull a plug after work today and see what they look like.

I decided not to crack my valve cover until Sunday. I think it will be best to wait until JP or Marshall show up to let y'all see the start up, hear what its like at start up, then how it starts to 'manifest' itself once it warms up. It shouldn't take but a few mins to start it up and drive it a bit to get it up to operating temp to adjust the valves.

I'll throw a new air and fuel filter in while we are working. I'll have plugs already gapped and will install them after everyone hears what she's like now.

At least you aren't overanalyzing this problem :flipoff2:

:flipoff2::flipoff2:

At least I'm not pulling my 2f to paint it "rainbow."
:grinpimp:

Laugh it up. One day they big gay may save your butt. lol

How about posting a video of it on youtube. That way we can all have the experience of this terrible sound.

I think he has "Marshall" snydrome ............ hears one little sound coming from his cruiser and thinks the whole thing is going to fall apart :grinpimp:

............. these cruisers are much tougher than we give them credit for at times

heh heh heh - hey, I like the Big Gay 2f! In a platonic sorta way so please don't talk about my butt and your Big Gay 2f in the same sentence.

I'll shoot some video tonight. It seems to be worse after its driven for awhile. Would that indicate the valves warming up, metal stretching a bit and there being more play available?

I'm betting it's a muffler bearing. Unfortunately the only one who knows how to fix that is the Cuban. I'll ask him if he has some spare bearings and 40 weight oil tomorrow.

Funny guy - you funny! :grinpimp: (That just reminded me of the kid from Goonies.)

I did think for a second the rough ride could be because i hadn't changed out my summer air for winter air in the tires. Turns out I was right! Man, this thing runs so much smoother now!

SOunds like you are on to something.

it would seem that way........ as the metal would expand when hot; but I don't believe the expansion would be measureable. but don't take my word for it I slept through physics :D

OK OK, back on topic.

I'm now showing my ignorance even more. Would a warmer engine allow the valves to slap around even more?

I know you are supposed to adjust warm and not cold. Warm metal is more flexible which in my mind would mean it could slap around more - either that or its expanded so it slaps around more. That could be why at start up the noise isn't too bad but after running for awhile it gets louder....just thinking out loud.

warm metal isn't flexible, it expands.

that is because you are heating it to the point were it is in transition from a solid to a liquid state........ then it is malable............. don't think your rocker or rods are getting that hot :D

Lol.

Steve until one of us can actually hear this sound we are all just pissing in the wind. lol

Could be all kinds of things you don't want to hear.

Burned valve
Bent Valve
Stuck valve
Stuck lifter
Broken valve spring
Broken rings
Skirt slap
Bad cam bearing
Dan near the vehicle
Bad Rod bearing
Bad crank bearing
Bad water pump
Fouled spark plug
Exhaust leak
valves that need adjusting
Intake leak
Bad oil pump

Pretty good for a Clemson engineering student :flipoff2::flipoff2:

I vote for timing being off.
