Great, thanks Cruzerhead, I'm waiting on word back from a few folks on aquiring the gearbox so once I'm sure what comes with I will be PM'ing you. If you get a chance, can you post a pic of the bolt patterns of the bell housing mating surface and flywheel if possible. Dana, any luck? I can't get a hold of Paradise via phone or email!

Jamrod, did you use your pictured parts in a conversion? Details to share? Thanks for the pics.

Yes they are the exact parts for the 1994 Land cruiser 1FZFE engine, I am having trouble to locate the driveshafts and the cross member... All this parts are being sourced from trucks recovered from accidents, or dismantlershis transmission came from a 2006 I have some parts numbers if this can help you. Clutch kit : cover assembly clutch ( pressure plate)31210-60260, Disc 31250-60440 14 groves., Bearing assembly clutch 31230-60130. Thsi is the kit of 12 inches size disc. clutch master cylinder 31410-60550. ECU 89661-60340 . Let me know if I can help with something..

Thanks for posting the link, Lumpy, really helps out. One issue is with the cross member supporting the transmission. I know it has to move, and that there are in some cases holes in the frame that aren't used in US spec 80s that can be used for this conversion, but it seems that the supporting bracket on the inside will then not line up. Has anyone moved these brackets or some other method to the madness to make the original cross member work for this conversion? Thanks,

Joel

shipping h151f

spoke to paradise auto again.
was quoted $900 to ship to Canada, fellow said he shipped one to Toronto last year.
however he was fixated on some eBay add.

So we have
$1650-2000 range for used/rebuilt +$900 out of Oz
or $4500 for brand new +500-700 out of Japan.
or $4800 for brand new $150 from Canada.
And Akella reminded me of the 6% duty for anything out of country.

Maybe I missed it but is there a part number for a new H151 transmission?

Also: what is the story with mating that to a split transfer case? I saw a shaft at cruiserparts.net that purports to do the trick... is it otherwise a bolt on?

to a HF*** t-case family yes .. to a BF1A no ..

So... I can take a US spec 1FZ with auto trans, swap on an H151 5 speed and, with the help of that swapped output shaft in the transmission, bolt on the transfer case that would have come with the US spec 1FZ?

Is it that straight forward?

Can't talk about your specific US spec .. But I did use my stock t-case that was behind my stock A442F

Bolt on . .

Alright guys, getting ready to grind off and reweld the crossmember supports. I've seen 70mm forward movement required and see that the other holes in the frame are right at that measurement. I want to be sure that this movement will work for the H151 with 1FZ-FE and not just for the diesel guys. I don't know if the engines are the same length or if the other frame holes are drilled to accommodate gas or diesel. Thanks.

co-op

New guy observation, since so many of us are overwhelmed trying to source parts from overseas, why not co-op. It's not profitable for corporations to deal with individuals, but it seems plausible that if we offered to do a single large group buy for the same set-up (diesel engine, tranny, parts kit) for a swap, it could happen. With a group buy comes a group discount and a container shipment would be pretty cheap once divided.

If I was looking to do the whole shebang, as in diesel engine conversion as well, I would be in on your idea. I think most of us involved in this thread are looking to do just the manual transmission swap. The main challenge being finding a good used unit in North America. New parts are not too much trouble with Japan 4x4 and Akella around! Maybe try posting in the Diesel and JDM Parts forum and see what you get. Others in this thread may differ with my opinion and join you in a group order of some kind.

Dana, you get your hands on a transmission yet? I will be looking at one in San Fran in a few days. Time to get this show on the road!
Can anyone verify the 70mm movement forward for the cross member new position for H151 with 1FZ-FE engine? I see you guys doing that with the H151 and diesels, but not sure if both engines will put the transmission mount in the same place. I see the forward holes in the frame for the adjusted position, just wanna be sure these are for gas engined 80 also. Anyone with this setup (Aussies maybe?) give me a reference measurement?

Thanks,
Joel
