J my stock 3.73 thirds are yours if you haven't gotten any yet. I just need to pull the 4.11 thirds out of my spare 62 axles and switch them over. Lemme know.

Thanks D, but I have a set and a spare or two of 3.73s.... I'll change to 4.11s if I don't like the 3.73s.

What RPM are you turning at 65? I'm impressed your mileage is that high with 4.56 gears.

Johnny, per the tach I'm running just under 1700RPM at 65 MPH (speed confirmed by GPS)

J

That's awesome. I wouldn't change a thing.

Well I like to run at 75-80 on the interstate :meh: , that puts me at around 2200RPM..not bad...but wanna play around and try and find that 1750 to 1900 band at 75 to 80..

So, per the calculator I have that would require 37s and 4.11s to put me at 1887ish at 80 MPH. :grinpimp:

Just adding 37s to my current set up yields me around 2100ish RPM, not too high but want the lower RPM to stay in that optimal power/torque band per my Cummins mechanic and the diesel performance shop??

J

i'm at 2100 running around 70. When I first started researching the swap I wish I had looked into the ranger overdrive. I'm with Johnny, I wouldn't change anything.

J... you are thinking like the goberment!!
If it aint broke well then we better spend MILLIONS replacing/fixing it.
If it is broke, well then just leave it alone. It will fix itself, right?!

No point in not making something good even better!

I'm always about building the better mousetrap...

you want to build the mouse trap that gets a bear. I like the way you think.

I wouldn't change it because frankly I don't know how.

It's all about the experiments and the roll of the dice.

J

you remind me of me before I got blown up. Now I'm all about safety and reliability. But I hope you go through with it, just post tons of :censor: pictures, and a few of your rig.

cheering you on J:beer:

J knows his stuff. If he could restore my FJ60 I'd have him do it.

Only saw Marley once (in person) but he was just beautiful.

Gossamer will be nothing short of amazing :)
