Fuel Inlet Hose

Anyone have an aftermarket cross reference number for a fuel inlet hose? Mine is brittle and inflexible so it's the time to replace it while I'm reassembling things.

I researched a bit and the number I came up with wasn't long enough.

I haven't checked to see if I can order from Toyota and wanted to know if anyone had an alternative part number.

Thanks,

Nik

It looks like something the Parker Store might have. Do you have an overall length needed?

As usual, Ige (@nuclearlemon ) has already been there, and done that!

The Parker Store near me doesn't even want to touch this stuff unless I am buying the entire 25' stick (no price listed): http://ph.parker.com/us/en/marine-m...d-hardwall-wet-exhaust-hose-armada/sw569-2125

So buying the 10' stick from Summit @ $76 + shipping is a better way to go, assuming you can make up 4 or 5 from a 10' stick and you can make the 90 degree bend needed: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/gtr-59034/overview/

NAPA said no.

I called the guys at filler neck supply and asked about the listing for 2 1/8" ID marine hose. That page is blank b/c they are out of stock. But when they get it in the stuff sells for $2.65/inch. This means a 2' run will be ~$64. Ugh. But he said you could get the 2" softwall tube, buy a coupler, join it to the 90 degree elbow and force the softwall tube over the metal with the help of some oil or petroleum jelly:

If someone really wants to try the 54mm fuel hose, there is a specialty shop near me that can get it in. They would sell the first foot and then charge by the inch after that. He thought a 2' run would be ~$40. They don't ship. If anyone is dying to do that I can try to help.

Pablo,

That's what I did, got it from filler neck supply, but bought the connector and straight piece at Napa. I believe I bought a 45 degree elbow. I'll check, but it cost with shipping $75.

I don't think bending a straight piece will work.

The picture I posted is the 45 degree piece from Filler Neck Supply and the connector and straight piece from Napa.

Pablo,

The hose I got from the Parker store is 2” Multipurpose Oil Resistant Air & Water Hose - Nonconductive -- GRIZZLY™ 500 - Series 7107, the ID is made of nitrile and has an excellent rating for ethanol, methanol and diesel oil according to this Parker PDF.

The guy at the Parker store said Parker recommends a hose with the wire reinforcement for fuel transfer but they both had nitrile ID’s so he didn’t see any reason this wouldn’t work since the reinforced hose won’t stretch over our 54mm filler neck or tank inlet and this hose will.

Did you just get a straight piece of hose and try to run a bend in it? Or some other config? Curious how you will make the bend...
Thanks!
Hopefully I will not have to pull my tank and experience this first-hand. But if I do, I feel fortunate for the brain power here...

This hose is considerably thicker than the factory hose and yes could be bent without kinking.

But like everything else I’ve done to my pig I’ve managed to overcomplicate this portion too and I’ll bend a tube to make the bend to pass through the body and only use the hose to couple.

I like that idea the best. Tell us about the tube you're using and how you're bending it. Buying a set of 2" dies just for this, would be hard to swallow.

Yeah, now that you say that, you could get stainless steel mandrel bent tubes in 2". Good idea. While playing around with this last year, I thought a 45 degree worked better, something to check again.

I have a 2" die for JD2 Model 4 Bender, Ill let you know what angle I come up with when I get there.

Fun picture. Top is a 45, second is a 45, third is part of the org. off the parts wagon and last is a 90. Hard part will be getting it lined up with the grommet in the body. Not a lot of room.

The stainless is 2 1/2" for my exhaust.

That will work. I was looking that those for my firewall hole, but not sure yet how big a ID hole I'll need, for my wiring.

Thanks for posting that.

On my '74, the passage also accommodates the fuel filler neck overflow hose, plus the 4 vapor recovery lines from the tank. This piece may occlude one or some of their passage, eh?

Never mind, I went back to my image from earlier - you are right on!

So here's the update after getting a coupler and Gates 24717 90 degree. The 90 will slide over the inlet pipe but the straight hose they sent me doesn't. It has wire reinforcement and is thicker material which won't allow it to expand no matter how hard I try to force it on. I even tried a heat gun in hopes it would make it more pliable.

I guess I could always buy another 90 or 45 and hack a section out if it since it looks like the straight section only needs to be about 5 inches.

Nik,

Take that coupler to the auto parts and get a straight piece to fit it. Does the 90 work as far as fitment?
