Obviously your head/machine shop is familiar with these Toyota heads. I don't see anything in your write-up wrt setting timing or valve clearances. When I did the head gasket on my 93, the job was spaced over a relatively long period of time. When I finally got to starting it, it ran like absolute poop. I traced the issue to valve clearances which were all significantly out of spec. My shop was clearly NOT familiar with these motors and was no longer even in business. So I gathered up a large supply of the OEM shims and proceeded to perform a complete valve adjustment as well as setting proper timing once everything was together. Just wondering, have you or others faced this issue before? I didn't even think to check the clearances when I got the head back from that shop.

Beautiful job by the way. I have 2 93's and one of them looked slightly worse than yours when I bought it for sub $5k many years ago. But it runs well and is triple locked with full float rear so a good project for someone. Not for me since the other one has the same mechanicals in a much nicer package.
Yeah, this is the 5th or maybe 6th head head he has done for me. Back in the day I used to bring him the FSM pages but now I bring him tequila. He is older than me and knows his sh!t . He makes me bring every truck I finish back to his shop so he can inspect it. I have never worked out if he like to see his works or wants to critique mine. :)

Similar story to the machinist who did my head work and honed the cylinders. Once I finished, I drove over. We were both happy campers. Basically, he never got to see his work put back together because it was mostly stuff he would do for shops that sent him the parts to work on.
A true professional, and a good guy. Of course now he's retired.

Great work indeed. Your list is similar to mine on my 97, Kimchi. Curious about the dash pad you mention. Care to share more details? Source? Cost? Install?

I ordered this one on the 7th Dec 2024. It looks like I jumped on one of the 25% discount sales that they run from time to time.

The problem is that before committing to the purchase I had searched the availability of this P/N and it showed as NLA on both Partsouq and Orisman. I know I had a conversation with @OGBeno about this however, I don't remember if he gave me a different P/N or something else. Maybe he can chime with some guidance.

I was dreading the install because I had replaced the dash on my now sold black '96 however this time it was much easier - who knows maybe I learned something from the previous attempt. If you do manage to get one I would highly recommend changing out the registers at the same time.

Oh so new OEM dash! Thought they were NLA

The grey ones are NLA for sure. Jury is still out on the Oak versions.

Changed out the radiator overflow tanks and the washer jug with nice shiny new ones. For some reason I thought these were NLA but saw someone ( @jonheld ?) recently post they did it along with the P/N's. Looks so much better.

Timely info! I'm debating removing my 2nd battery, and I wondered if the jug was still available.

I got mine from Partsouq (easier now since they add the tariffs at checkout) P/N 85325-60061 @ $53.16.

Very nice work ! Thanks for sharing 😎
