I did not think that FJ62's were part of the fuel tank recall campaign. Huh, maybe they were.

Nice progress. I got my FJ60 tank swapped about 6-7 years ago. Brand new tank now, thanks Toyota! I think they are all gone now.

Tank dropped, fuel pump is TOAST! All rusted and gross. Gonna have the tank acid cleaned and get new hoses in place.

I only get an hour or two a week to work on this project so it's driving me nuts the progress is taking so long.

Motor work is next

Callling Onur gives you only one option, OEM. If it is still available then get it, think of it this way, there are guys out there with 200-300k on their trucks and still running the original pump. That says a lot if you are JUST NOW purchasing a new OEM.

Fuel pump - 23220-16190
Suction filter - 23217-61010
Clip - 23219-03010
Cushion -23249-74150
Gasket - 77169-14010

The cushion is the black rubber piece at the bottom of the pump. After I pulled my pump this week I discovered it was all chewed up and disintigrating, so I had to add that to my American Toyota order. Cdan had already set me up with the other parts last year before he retired.

So in my haste in getting the gas tank out and over to be hot ranked to get the debris out, I didn't mark which of the rubber fuel lines go where.

Anyone have a diagram that shows which soft line goes to which of the locations mounted to the body?

My tank is shiny and black now, the tank took off the rubber coating that was sprayed on the outside. Is that gonna matter at all? It's not bare metal, almost looks like it was spray painted black.

I personally hate rubber undercoating. as long as the metal is coated, it'll be fine. did you have the inside coated or just boiled? I can take some pics of the lines on the tank later

That would be awesome. Thank you.

My entire fuel tank was acid bathed. Inside is all cleaned out, but not coated at all. The process took the factory (I think) rubber coating off the exterior of the tank, so now it's just a solid black.

Did you take it to a radiator shop to have the tank cleaned? I have a long range tanks that needs to be cleaned out as well.
I did. I live in Northern California, just South of Sacramento. The shop I took it to is in Woodland, CA Star Radiators

I think they are the only place within about 100 mi that can do fuel tanks

LOL... When you said just south of Sac I was wondering where you were at. Thems my old stomping grounds.. grew up in Escalon, have family all over from Visalia up to Williams on the corridor. You been affected recently by all the flooding?

No flooding issues around Vacaville. I work in Marin County though and it's been a sh*t show down there.

Got everything for the fuel pump finally, should have it together in a week or so. Anyone have photos of the correct way to hook up the breather lines coming off the tank to the body?

Also, looks like I have to replace the high pressure ATF coolant like that goes from tranny to radiator. Toyota doesn't make em anymore, so should I keep trying to source a good used one or have a local hydraulic shop make a replacement?
