On a road trip back to Seattle now. First night up there was awesome. I got into Wyoming late so cooked and hung out standing up in the back :-) Really changes things being able to stand. The interior is 3 panels that stack and slide manually with 3 same sized mattresses. Bedding can stay up there but pillows were too much to close it with the 3" thick mattress. You can climb up from inside of rig. I just push the rear most panel up, stand on my cooler and crawl up. I did realize im going to have to rethink my Webasto air heater situation though with this... I bought an diesel fired airtop to rig for ski camping in a rear quarter panel but now I see im pretty sealed from the bottom. Any ideas are welcome!

also here is a better side profile shot closed. Eric did a great job matching the lines IMO. It looks tall in some pics but its only 5" above stock. I wanted a high roof now I have one. I love it.

My buddy @ab1985 has a campteq and I can attest to the quality of the finished product. He has some serious headroom in his 80, and maybe can chime in on his experiences and challenges regarding the setup

@ProwlerDriver this is looking awesome!!!

Do you think you could add cross bars or additional storage up there, or maybe just solar panels?

Definitely. I will be adding ski racks, the aluminum is THICK and there are plenty of welded in cross bars... I guess to answer a previous question its probably stiffer than the original roof when closed. Im not worried about that part

Don't know where your diesel heater is located at......

With that said.....
Duct a 4" Y duct ...
I'll be running a propex in the cargo area... When I get to a pop up status.. That's what I'll be doing

I stalked you yesterday. You pulled off the road near craters of the moon as i was driving by in my brown F350. I was drooling when I saw your rig and also about to piss my pants so I also pulled out, hopped out and peed on my passenger tire.

This may have freaked you out because you peeled out of there. Sorry...I had driven eight hours already and had to pee before approaching your rig, else it would have been more awkward!

Anyhow, I passed you again on my way home. I'm in Stanley now with my 62 if you're still in the area. I'll keep my wang in my pants, I promise.

Ha! Incredible. I didnt see you but mainly because i was trying to stay conscious in the heat with no a/c. 8 hour travel day from Wyoming yesterday. Night in stanley made it all worth it though, i love that place. Headed to Joseph Oregon today or i would have met up. I cant believe we crossed paths like that, too funny man

I love Joseph and have an employee here who was an elk guide and brewery employee there. Have fun and give a shout next time you're around. We have a cabin out Fisher Creek so you have a good have a base camp. Safe travels.

Ride home, besides the heat, was a much better camping experience. The mattress in this thing combined with actual pillows and the quickness of setting up made camping awesome. The top is super solid. I feel a little more body roll, but nothing crazy. I think its stiffer than the actual roof with 4 solid aluminum cross bars. Also, I think I have taken a 2mpg hit with it but that goes with the territory I guess. Still about 26-27 a fill up, so I can't complain! Some mornings where it was cold there was a decent amount of condensation on the underside of the aluminum... im guessing insulation would solve that?

I plan on putting my heater in the rear quarter panel. im trying to think of a way to get it up stealthy into the top.

Can you route it up the D-Pillar so that it vents out the interior “vent”?

Post up what you come up with.......
I looked at the D pillar, but I think it would be too restrictive...
I'm thinking.... This heating set up will go up along with the wooden sections when it's bed-time...
A custom molded duct would be awesome...

That's a sweet 60..
Thinking back to my Westfalia, I just had a propane tent heater. I'd click it on to take the chill off long enough to get dressed. I imagine if you open a vent on the canvas, heat would rise up there well enough. Insulation of some kind on the aluminum will do wonders.

Got some camping in at Baker Lake with the kids. My dreams of the 3 of us using this as a ski rig may need some retuning, we need to figure out a system to all be able to get changed and exist in there! I ended up sleeping downstairs with them up which was plenty of room.
Im thinking eventually going to a 70/30 bed platform that raises with struts like the alu-cab Hercules to make it easier to transition vice the sliding panels.

Im probably going to spring for a frontrunner roof rack set up. Full length tracks, front 1/3 will be a full rack, and then 2 load bars in the back.

Pretty freaking nice. I recommend a 10x10 Spring Bar tent. If you get in a situation without level parking, or you need to leave a base camp, or maybe just some privacy or just wanna keep the peace, you will be proud to own it. One day your kids ds will likely fight over it after you die
