Part 2

Here is a piece of the rubber I poked into the rear section of the right-hand rear door.
I had to open up part of the short channel because it was crushed on the left.

This is quite a tedious job but once you get the feel for it, it won't be as difficult.

I hope this will help with the installation.

more info...

This was about a customer called Adam who had told us there was an issue with the on-door seals catching on his latches.

I took a look at the doors we have and then noticed that the front door we have has a cut-out near the latch.

Here are three pictures of that door showing where the trimmed section is.

The length of the trimmed section is 5" and the middle of the cut-out lines up with the middle of the door latch cog.

Part 4

We also have a right-hand rear door but the part of the seal near the latch is completely missing so I don't know if that was also trimmed.

The image below is a picture I found online, showing an old original seal damaged where the latch would be.
It has no sign of being trimmed around that area.

I'm guessing this is what will happen if the seals do not get trimmed.
It may be that this was a problem with the early FJ55 seals like in this picture and later they were pre-trimmed like the door I have here in our factory

Here are a few tips if your seals need to be trimmed for the latch.

I cut a small section of the rubber profile and then trimmed a section out and took a few pictures.

Here is a rough explanation of how I did it.

Had lots of trouble getting through customs for stupid little things…. But look what showed up….
Now, we are trying to find a good size box to ship things in this time and get estimated shipping so we can have one final price.

To be clear… everyone on the first buy will get four new door seals. Free as replacements, just have to pay shipping. Most everyone else is getting the additional rear window seal. Will try to get things boxed up this week, but work and life is crazy this month. Any little parts that I owed people should be in this batch as well.

Got a test box and weight and I think everyone will ship for an average of $25, so no change in the prices since the original posting. $208 for the rear seal with shipping and the replacement 4 seals (and a free gift that caused the US custom to have a hissy fit)...

If you ordered more than one rear seal, don't worry about additional shipping, should be close enough.

Everyone that did not want a rear seal, just the replacement free door seals just owes me $25 for shipping.

I will send out an email as well with the same payment info.

Here is a list of the rear seals that I ordered for.

Had a bunch of questions, so wanted to make sure I was clear.

If you just are getting replacement seals, send me $25.

If you are getting replacement seals and the new rear door seal send me $208.

Started getting them boxed up last night….

Also, many thanks to many of you that added a few dollars... very kind of you all!

My son is graduating college this weekend with Electrical Engineering degree from Iowa State, so the funds will be used for liquor to celebrate the big day!

got it! Thanks! That Cozy is nice too, just in time for warm season. Of course I use one to keep my hands from freezing in the cold times too.
👍

I sent off the first batch of 10 last week that I had payments on, plan to get a batch out this week, then it will be a few weeks out -- so if you can send any funds due by tomorrow, I will try to get them out this week....

just realized I have just been alerting those that joined the rear seal purchase, so copied this list from the original purchase.
