Mine haven't made it out of the box, yet, and already have a "change".

Steve,

Would a cardboard template be enough to make panels that match my others, for these?

Delancy,

For the two rear doors? If so, yes. Sorry for my ignorance...is that an fj55? If so there seems to be more room in the cargo area then what I had in visioned.

Another crazy question...do all fj55's have the two rear doors?

How are the panels attached?

Send me either flat cardboard or kraft paper templates and I will see what I can come up with.

Steve,

Chris is writing you about a 55 equipped with ambulance doors, an option we did not get here in the States. :frown: Most of them show up in Oz, but I see Chris' picture has steering wheel on the left, so not sure where that one is/was.
Our US Pigs have a drop-down tailgate with a metal interior panel.

He's putting some non-US barn doors on his FJ55, all US trucks came with a drop down tailgate ;) You might get some orders from some from AUS though -

Cool

Yes

Optical illusion, as I can guarantee there's not enough room for 6' 1" 215lbs worth of arse to contort into to get the rear glass down.

No.

I don't know. I've never seen them in person before, but based on DIY, the same as the cargo panels.

Sounds good. Will have them here Sunday.

Still can't believe those other markets got fold down jump-seats and a split rear seat!

Good idea, if not a plastic retarder...though I've not seen the inside of the panel.

I'm torn as to wether it's worth the battle to attempt to waterproof the inner or enlarge the drains.

I would enlarge the drains as all cars have them. I would use form POR15 on the interior of the doors if your worried about them rusting.

Good luck.

I believe I will use a plastic barrier over the holes, but there are some small openings where the linkages stick through that will be tough to cover.

I found some spray urethane at Lowes I might try on the back to keep the hard board dry (dryer).

I think the factory drain holes will be okay if you clean out the bottom of your doors AND replace the outer window wiper felt so moisture and debris can't get in.

Finally got around to opening my box with the new panels.
They look great!

I installed the driver's door card before the rain started.
Kinda makes the rest of the pig look a little... piggish.

Nice!

Did you use the new fasteners, or re-use your old ones?

Bob, scuff plates (and now door cards) are the only things that wouldn't require photoshop to make the pig look like a show winner.

Pablo, used the new fasteners. They pop into the holes on the door like a charm. I think the reach of the new fasteners towards the outer edge of the door card might be a little shorter, because it was a tight fit reaching top and bottom.

This could also be attributed to the wallowed out holes in my old door cards. I got them to fit without any modification of the holes Steve pre-cut for the fasteners, but if you needed to, you could easily elongate a couple of holes to make them reach.

The door handle hole and window crank hole lined up perfectly. For the door pull, I located the tapped hole in the door with my phillips bit in the drill and hit the trigger to punch through the vinyl. Then ran the machine screws through the holes without cutting the vinyl and tightened the pull down.
