FJ55 reproduction door panels

FWIW, you may want to relieve the plastic where the window reg goes thru and where the door pull screws go thru...

I will remember that when peeling it all off the black caulk, to remove handles before paint. :)

I had intended on line-x, since a wheeler, but I do not wish to increase the likelihood of Pigish rust, nor make it any more difficult than it has to be to correct in the future, so have gone back to painting.....after which I'll buff with rocks.

Stupid just saying that.

Good news...loaner panels arrived today. Kick panel template made. Cargo panel template started...Tucker's fitment set should ship out no later than Monday. I will keep everyone posted

outside of the high and low filler panel plates, i don't know why they wouldn't.

we finished bosshogs door transformation yesterday between rain bouts...as mentioned, the only issue between 69 and 78 is the ashtray placement in the front doors. here are pics of the interference. solutions are either cut the bracket away, or eliminate/relocate the ashtray.

that would've been covered in option 2 which included eliminate the ashtray

Ah yes, I just still think it is funny that our Pigs come with 4 ashtrays!
When I got mine, the pass side front door ashtray had partially smoked cigarette in, even had old lip stick on the filter.

I think we could put ashtrays in the cargo panels, right in front of the vents, so that way when you are going down the road the vents pull the smoke out of the ashtrays.

Okay, maybe I am over thinking this...

The first set of cargo panels I received were from a 76 model fj55 with the short fuel filler cutout.

My first thought was the retainer holes should be the same for both panels but that was not the case.

I received two more sets 72 and 76 cargo panels. The 72 was blank... No fuel filler cutout.

The 76 had the tall fuel filler cutout.

The retainer holes on both sets were identical for the left and right side.

Tucker's left panel may or may not fit due to retainer hole placement.

I was able to make one template panel for both sides and drilled retainer holes for the left panel and right panel. So I can layout one panel and turn the template over and layout the other panel.

One side of the template matches for retainer holes for the 72&76 model cargo panel sets.

What I will do is provide all the retainer holes for the short fuel filler cutout and tall fuel filler cutout panel in every left panel I send out. This will make soure I have the correct retainer holes for the cargo panels.

Tucker, if yours does not line up, I will send you another one.

Since tucker was able to us the retainers I sent, i will be sending/including those with the panel set. It takes approx 93 retainers for all six panels. I will include two boxes of 50 retainers with the panel set.

Delancy,

Okay, your are correct both sets were the tall fuel filler cutout.

They both still had the same retainer holes unlike the short fuel filler cutout.

Phew...

I know I'm growing crazier with every passing day, but had me questioning sanity, once more....this morning. Hahaha.

Steve,

I can't recall what directives I noted in the package, but think I can simplify here.

For the 72 panels, all I'd like returned is the fuel filler portion of that panel, without any covering or attention. I'm a ways out on needing any services for the 72, but will need that cover eventually.

For the 76, I included that fuel filler panel to recover in the same material as all 8 panels that I'm ordering from you.

I don't need any of the panels themselves returned for either.

Hopes that's clearer than mud.

Steve,

I pulled off my cargo panels this weekend, the DS doesn't seem to have any provision for a cut out of any sort on the bottom interior frame. I'd say as long as the panels had retainers in the same spots I'm good, not sure if this was a '79 only thing or not?

Tucker,

Since you pulled your panels off and if you compared them to each other and it seems the retainer holes match just opposite if each other then the drivers side panel retainer holes that I sent will not line up. Some will but not all and probably not enough of them.

Steve

I got it now. Thank you for re-clarifying.

My current panels are plywood that was attached with self-tapping screws :frown: I guess I'll see when I get the panels tomorrow or Fri, hopefully they'll work ;)

If not I will make another with all possible retainer holes and then it should work.

Keep me posted....the numbers are backing up on me...:)
