So I conferred with Steve and took a bunch of measurements last night, from the '72 & '76 panels he was sent and what I found there are two distinct clip layouts. We decided he should just put both sets in the panel so they will work for everyone, the difference did not seem to be a cutoff point (my '79 match the '72 for instance, and not the '76). Here are some pics of a template panel laid over the stock '76 panel:

The black marked holes are what he sent me for my PS that didn't work, the unmarked were what I needed (top & bottom edge). Here is my measure markup:

Hard to tell (PITA to make due to clip offsets from truck holes), but when I pulled back off the DS it lined up perfect to my "N" or needed holes. Anyway, I'm confident a set with all the holes present will work for everyone ;). Just FYI, these were somewhat more difficult to orientate the clip offset direction than the doors w/o having a stock reference panel. Putting it in place and marking reference helped a lot, they will line up eventually -

Cheers!
Tucker

BTW: Post up some pics of the different colors as you guys who ordered get them installed.

Steve, is this the way forward?
If this design will work for all cargo panels, sounds like you are ready to let 'er rip!
I had one add'l question for you, I'll switch to PM.

With the number of sets of panels people are wanting along with my other items I custom make for other vehicles, there will be a short waiting period.

For those who needs a full set of panels I will notify you 1-2 weeks prior to the time I am ready to start. I am currently working on 3 sets now and am estimating another 2 weeks to finish these.

Thanks again to those who have assisted me in getting these created for the fj 55 community

Steve

Steve,

I am definitely interested in the 8 piece set. No big hurry for me as I am still welding on the body. Let me know when your get caught up and I will get a set ordered.

Richard

I guess I should get in line as well. I'm interested in the 8 piece set. Probably in the dark grey. No hurry at all. I don't even have the body shell back on the frame yet. PM me when you are caught up and want to fill the order.

Thanks, Mark

can you post pics of the finished items in dark grey? I think this is the color I want but would like to see it, is this similar / close to what the factory bench seat colors are? I bought my 55 in pieces....

I will try and post later this weekend. This is not the exact color as oe but it is the closest color I have access to.

Wow!!
I have been out of the lope for the past 3 years. I am missing a lot of good great ideals!
I will pay what ever it takes to get a set of the panels. Mine shot. :bounce:

Happy Birthday To Me!

Opened my panels today! USPS tried to deliver them on Saturday, but we were celebrating my little guy's b-day. So picked 'em up yesterday, and got to open them on my actual Birthday!

Thanks Steve!

They look great. I ordered the dark grey, and they are very dark. I took a picture of the black kick panel by the front door panel to get a sense of the color.
