@POTATO LAUNCHER
Looping Casey into this thread. He recently overcame this issue with one of his customers trucks.

With these gears being very difficult to hunt down I came up with a simple solution that isn't a 100% repair but more of a longterm bandaid until either myself or someone else can reproduce them.
As long as the od gear teeth and hub isn't completely destroyed this has been successful.
I use a heavy washer that fits in the recess of the gear with a little work. IIRC it's a washer from a 3/4" masonry floor anchor.
OD is great, the ID needs to open a bit.
Both sides of the gear are the same and will work either way. The removable cover has a guide plate and the inner has a smaller flat surface near the hub where it rides. The washer trick will only work with it in this orientation.
Some careful location of saddling the cracks and some countersink wood screws will keep it flat.

^^^ Whoa. Kudos! :clap:
You guys aren't keeping up. The gears have been successfully reproduced. $20 each.

always interested in seeing how folks overcome challenged areas like this gear. Read through the post you shared and it’s not clear if the later version has been re-popped. If not hopefully it will happen soon for the 55 group. Regardless, I’m always impressed when someone can fabricate their own fix in-house as @POTATO LAUNCHER did.

FWIW both styles have been copied. It's in the thread; post 42. Agree it's not immediately obvious unless you were following the conversation in that thread and others. I also agree that screwing a broken one back together is quite resourceful but probably not worth the trouble if you can buy one for $20.

Good to know. Will get a few for the shop. Don't do them often but this is way easier.
I was looking at a replacement off the shelf motor that is the same tooth count as OEM. 7 tooth IIRC. Basic window regulator motor from a late 60s early 70s vehicle. Mounting can be overcome fairly easily but the wiring involved extra relays and such that will really overcomplicate the simple 3 wire system. Glad to see the new gears availability.
