No Roll Cage. He decided that his 40 would be his "hard" trail rig. The 55 is just for expo trips now.

Lil'John said:I was looking at the original build on this and was curious about how you converted the FJ60 AC to work in the FJ55. I'm looking at doing something similar on mine.
It appears one thing you did was removed the stock emergency brake handle and relocated it. Was this for the AC?
Was the underhood fan box a stock later model FJ55 box? Or was it from something else?
Did you use a custom made elbow from the FJ60 AC box to the fan box?
Did you do any "massaging" on the back of the AC or heater boxes to make them close to the firewall?
Wiring looks "easy" enough.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry, I have been super busy at the shop and I have no internet at the house.
The A/C in the truck works OK now but I was in no means an easy install. The stock blower fan wasnt nearly enough air to cool things down. It now has a stock 60 fan but I had to remove the top half of the fan to fit it under the dash, so it has no Fresh Air option (you can always open the windows)
The control cables for the flapper doors were hooked up to the stock slides but that didnt work for long so now we just have short actuator cables for each operation.
We also had to build sheet metal adapters to attach the outlets to the defrost ducts and the front outlet we had to adapt 60 series vents into so that they had some direction.
It has none of the 60 series AC temp controls or thermostats to cycle the compressor so it will freeze if you leave the compressor on full time.
If I were to do it again I would just buy a 40 series Vintage Air kit and modify to fit.
Sounds like a lot of issues.Bummer!Sounds like a lot of issues.
I think we need an Ultimate A/C Resource for Pigs thread.
I think Lil' John and I were talkign about this at one time..
