That overflow tube isn't doing you much good right now...

Umm yeah, the original filler tube was wrecked. This a FJ40 fill tube, the hose could be routed better, I will mark it for later.

I bought this flange / hole punch thing years ago. Disassembled it and made the flange deeper. So the over lap is flush.

I wasn't freaking out about the fuel overflow, I was just really surprised about the those rear wheel-wells!

The previous owner was a pipe fitter, hence all the heavy gauge steel used. The floors and door jams are excellent. When I was looking to purchase a FJ55, this one I felt had the best value. It has taken so long to get to this point. My work schedule has changed so I am able to get more time in the shop and do things.

I’m testing one out now. Less mess/air born than death wheels. Not as good for thicker metal. Seem to hold up well enough. It’s another tool in the box, but not a complete replacement for death wheels.

Side Quest ; buddy has a broken bolt on his intake. Lots of pre-heat and some crayons. Welded a nut on the end.. let it cool down and wiggle wiggle its out. Tapped the holes to clean the threads.

Back to the rust repairs, used the flange tool to make this small patch. Had to weld a bolt to it so I could hold it in place. While tacking it up. Keep moving forward.

I do not recall hearing about the crayon thing, just used as a penetrant?

Yes, wax works also, I have a 6yr old and an endless supply of crayons. It wicks up the threads. I saw it on a YouTube video, works great.

Patch work is getting faster and the fitting is tighter now. Working my way around to the rear.

Gonna stop at this point and wait for the cavity spray gun to get here so I can coat these rear upper supports from the inside. Just mock up replacement patches - not weld in.

Was able to cut out the rear upper deck rust. Put some rust treatment on the metal after.
