Has anyone installed the hood quick lift system. I am ordering one for my FJ. Looks really cool and keeps me from messing with the hood rod holder. Attached is the web address

A lot of guys here buy a lift hatch strut and attach it to a bracket on the firewall and the hood in the center on the old split hoods and they work really well. Unlatch and the hood goes right up! Wrecking yard item for about 5 bucks

Not worth 120 of my bucks

Plus I like lifting it all the way. Nothing getting in my way when under the hood

I paid approximately $90 for the powder coated set. You can purchase a slightly cheaper set for around $65. The stainless steel set is $120.

I have the brackets installed. Once I paint the hood, I will install the kit and post a couple picts.

i just got mine and i did get the stainless one for the rust free factor. well i thought it was a good deal and it was. heres a couple of pictures and i did take a video and heres a link.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VcluMt-JdQ&feature=channel_video_title

Thanks for the video Fieldsken, that actually looks pretty handy.

I'm with some of the other guys that like to open the hood all of the way back and rest it on the roof for full access.

I've been thinking about making a magnetic "hood stop" for this scenario, it would magnetically attach to the window frame area under the roof, and have a bumper stop that stuck out in front of the roof to protect the roof and hood. Of course it wouldn't be as nice as this setup because you'd have to take it off and on, but it would allow the hood to fully open when you were working on your '40 in the garage...

I have just been looking at these for my 40 over here in Aust as I can not find anyone over hear who manufactures anything similar. However I cant justify the $90.00 (US) then conversion rate to Aust Dollars. Plus when I went onto their website to order a set it was going to be another $53.00 for postage.

Can anyone who has installed a set please take me some measurements of the length of the gas strut and also the pressure in either Newton Meters or PSI so that I might be able to get something over here in Aust.

Thanks in advance.
