What if the "Baton" was an early tool roll? Collecting toyota tools along the way? It would be useful also but would eventually end up with Hector when it makes the full journey. You can't have my tool roll but I'd donate a couple of wrenches and a NOS grease gun.

I got your attache case. Seriously James Bond style. It was my dad's. It's a bit on the heavy side tho. It would be cool as s*** to see peeps posting a pic of the handoff, complete with curious onlookers!

that is pretty cool. but how much room is there inside for ''stuff'', looks like the power supply for the phone takes up most of the case?

I will sign on for Charleston, SC to..... Run. Put me down for 200 miles - that could get me from Charleston SC to Aiken / August, GA - near @GA Architect, or toward the Upsate of S Carolina and connect to the Tennessee group. Additionally, I could connect to the Charlotte, NC area and to Savannah GA - if necessary.

I can't go east - no snorkel. I will encourage @CharlestonG8R @dbenke @scott johnson @whitenh @77wagon @Trollhole or others to be involved in a caravan of sorts.... Some sorts.

I'm figuring I (we) would be a weekend participant - not necessarily a 'starting' point, or ending point, just segment participant.
Count me in. Same deal, I'm good as a weekend participant. Happy to pick up the baton from @Trollhole @aquatech3 @tnkayaker @ClemsonCruiser and the Upstate Cruiser gang and take it down to Savannah and meet with @77wagon and then on down to St Augustine to meet up with @mel lowe and some fellow UF fans. Erik, if we take 17, there are LOTS of picture opportunities. Fort Moultrie, Rainbow Row, The Battery, MCRD Parris Island, Beaufort, Downtown Savannah, the St Augustine Fort... 40 is ready. She even has a full tank of gas.

I'm in for a stretch from NoVA up as far as Gettysburg for a pass to/from my Keystone Cruisers brethren. Or if the route goes up or down Skyline Drive/Blueridge Parkway I'd be all over that section in the October timeframe. One of the best stretches of road in the US.

Design looks great I do think that it has a very nice touch of color either way with the blue or the red. I am Loki going forward to this trip still in the process of marrying up the engine with the transfer case and trans though I am trying to complete this before the adventure starts.

So was asked to integrate another 40 into the design and need to think about Canada as well. Just did a quick mock-up and well mine is on the West Coast and @hecrod's is on the East Coast. Do we need to rename it, "Across North American Expedition"?

Honestly I don't think a 40 needs to be on the sticker....they cover up a fair portion of the map.....and they are going to be stuck on the back or side of a 40.

Won't it be kind of boring though? You eliminate a lot of the color... Maybe we can do the political map like @pngunme wanted to avoid... Nice red and blue lol.

So can we figure out a way to get the baton TO Long Island - maybe a hand off in the Bronx from someone from the New England/Boston side... then a loop of Long Island then FROM Long Island with a hand off in Brooklyn or Manhattan to head out to NJ and south?

@ginmtb Mike, I think this looks great! 40's in the East Coast and West Coast, hardtop and soft-top, red and blue... this looks really good.

People may need your Paypal details to reimburse you.... and did we say $1???

I suppose so, if we are including our plaid-coat and ear-flaps-hat wearing, maple syrup swigging, beaver-show neighbors to the north. :p

Maybe there are some Mexican 40's that would like to do a leg too.

I think you need to add the year to the sticker ie 2016 or 2017 whenever it officially kicks off.
This is quite the undertaking and may happen next year which is rapidly approaching.

Okay no go on the cut out around the perimeter. Is everyone good with this design?

RE: Sticker

I'm not suggesting you have to, but if you want to show a more international flavor you could change the map to North America and that may allow the 40's to cover less of the map. May I suggest also a rough route line on the map in color just for some flavor? I agree the year (at least starting year) should be on the decal. I expect this may become a recurring relay but also take a while to come full circle.

Been busy and haven't followed this thread since the first couple of pages. Is there a gap between NV and NM across AZ? My only currently registered FJ40 is about 35 miles south of interestate 40 in AZ that could possible help with the gap depending on the date.
