The First Knight Of The Iron Pig has spoken.
Mark...
Mark W. has been the undisputed First Knight of the Iron Pigs since way back in the LCML days. When he speaks, I shut my yap and listen. When the Pig speaks, all should listen.
The dude with the 55 wins80s are big and boring. 40s are small and st
disgust is right! 55? sorry, 47 troop FTWLOL, smoking crack I think!
I can never decide if I just roll on the floor laughing at discussions when they take this turn, or if i want to shake my head in disgust.
Anytime someone says that any rig is the best. I stop listening.
Well, other than the fact that the Iron Pig is the best vehicle ever created by man for any and every use that any human could ever imagine.

So - can someone explain to me what this was about?![]()
So their arch enemies can find them here and whine about the 250 not being a real Land Cruiser in the 80 section also? No thank you...How about someone invite a 250 lover to this discussion? Just to round out this $hit show.

An undeniably made in China 40 birf is no way stronger than an oem 80 birf. Leverage plays a big factor when speaking in angles. The 40 birf is something like 3/5 the size of an 80 which puts it at a disadvantage with respect to leverage not to mention it will simply wear out faster for the same reason.the 47 no, the 45 however was brought over and its parts are the same other then the diesel motor. and all the axles of the same era/spline are the same. yes, birf is bigger on an 80, again though, thats still a matter of metallurgy. steel has changed over the last 100 years. notice how a 60 year old car in a field beat by the elements day in day out for 50 years wont have any rot, just surface rust? thats cause the metal wasnt cut like cheap coke. as far as ive been told.
I can buy a TG HD birf for my 40 that is undeniably stronger then an oem 80 birf, and is still undeniably smaller as well, jus sayin. so accounting for diminishing steel quality i personally would design my parts larger to account for it. and I imagine thats what toyota did. so not necessarily making them stronger. not fighting to winjust trying to consider all the variables on top of the more obvious ones. if anyones done considerable wheeling on both and broken more of one then the other id be more convinced.
The 40 knuckles look shockingly small (like jewelry) when seeing one after seeing only 80 knuckles and birfs for a few years. What’s stronger, a Dana 44 or 60…… ? I’ve never read a thread where 80 birfs were questioned but only the 8” reverse rotation R&P.I don’t know squat. But I never hear people saying the going to put 40 axles under anything but a 40.
I do hear of people putting 80 axles under Mini trucks,40s,55s, 60s, tundras and sequoias, even some buggies
Some using the whole 80 chassis for the conversion
Just to add to theshow
