Speaking of dizzy's and Sniper installs, do you guys & gals see any issues of using the 19100-61180 points distributor with this set-up?

Is that the later model one for desmog trucks? If so, that one is “recurved” already so it should work fine.

It's this one.

Well, per item #5 in the Technical Section, it says; Does not work with fuel injected 3FE engine on US spec FJ62 & FZJ80.

So holley doesnt make a Hyperspark that will work with the 2f.
they do make one for jeep 6 cylinder.

the following response from Holley in response to my asking if the jeep hyperspark might be made to fit.

"I would not recommend attempting to use the Jeep distributor for this purpose. Unfortunately we do not have a distributor that will work for this purpose and allow integrated timing control with the Sniper system. Apologize for the inconvenience."

Can anyone speak to how timing control was setup with a fj60 dizzy? wondering if my 1980 dizzy can be locked out.

Anyone run the sniper EFI on a 2F at altitude?
I am curious how this system performs from sea level through 12k ft. Will it adapt and learn on its own based on atmospherics?
I'm very confused by the lack of mechanical or electronic advance and how it works when it is locked down.

I just so happen to have done this last month at SAS #4. At sea level, the Sniper is impressive and really brought my 2F to life. At 13,100 feet, the 2F was a dog, and not because of the carb! I didn't have to re-jet a carb to get the best performance out of the engine, the Sniper compensated for the altitude.

Are you saying that even with the Sniper you had a dog at altitude?

Yes, that was to due to the altitude. The Sniper compensates and has the engine running great, but the power loss isn't something it can control.

If I recall correctly, you lose 2.5 -3.0% of total HP per 1000ft elevation? Someone may need to fact check that....as I'm just an Architect.

Still needs the maestro Cop head to make the turbo breathe right.
Gonna show my ignorance, but what is a Maestro COP head? Is it a Mosley built head with Chevy SS valves?

It was a dog but responded much better than a carb when you mashed on the gas.

Could climb to the top of Imogene Pass?
Yes. It took some persuaion though. Having the stock 4.11s instead of 3.70s would have made it easier though.

Hmm, 37's with 4.56 gears may struggle.
Not going anytime soon, but I like to plan for the future possibilities.
Seems it would still be better than the carb...
I helped drag an FJ40 up Imogene with a 200 series due to likely jetting issues. It would run at speed on the highways at altitude, but would just bog down and die at slow speeds.
Did you physically advance the dizzy to compensate at all?
What dizzy are you running with the Sniper?
Thanks for answering my rapid fire questions.

I was just Rick's chauffeur for imogene and a few other passes, so I got to feel how the truck behaved. I know Rick did the timing before really running anything, but I'm not sure what was really changed. I'm not sure which dizzy he is running. I'm sure it is on his build thread though.

A little off topic, but fun times with @GA Architect

It’s a bit more than that, but he’s got a machine shop he’s worked with to get the most out of these heads. Getting all the air they can get without a turbo.
