ASCO Coarse Spline Lock-Outs

Thanks to a thread I saw on these in the 40 section, it took me longer to get the bolts out and the snap ring off than to pull the covers!

Chris, I'd grease btwn the lock-out mechanism and the over to aid in future dis-assembly. These came from New Mexico, so pretty clean.

good looking hub.

good looking hub.

They're kick ass in my opinion.

Thank you for suggesting and thanks to PabloCruiser for parting with.

Once they were recommended, I'd decided it was either these, or drive flanges, even though these are later and I already had sourced Selectro's.

I'm stoked about the ASCOs, to say the least.

Thanks again for going to the trouble to pull them.

Can't wait until the point when they're being installed.

After my crap ass day with the 80, killer news.

There are 2 of them!

Do you know the paint code?

Hahaha, I'm kidding.

Chris, sorry for the tough day with the 80...

Sob story. Can change the channel, if uninterested.

A humbling day, not that I attest to being a mechanic, because I'm merely a student.

Was headed to wheel, but experienced a death wobble that was first thought to be a wheel bearing. Tear into everything to tighten and they're fine, so start checking everything else and lo and behold.....

That'd have sucked falling out at 75mph on way to Disney.

Anyhow, no one has the nut and can't find in my bin, so rounded up a temp (and another cheap c clio plier, to replace what I'd broke) and locktited in, but still too late in day to wheel.

Putting everything back together and

and they're ARPs!!

(Yes, I know the wheel studs are too long. My dumbass installed them all few months back, systematically on the hubs, and didn't realize how much too long they were, until mounting tires, after all was put back together. I'm learning)

Top all that off with failed attempts at paint removal

Soaking in a stripper bath (ahhh) now and it's not doing.

Wire wheel digs into way too much. Even a wire brush ate into one.

Don't know if removing these pins

Is a good idea, and the rubbers are aged to a point that one tore when trying to remove.

I "think" these should be bare, but have no way of knowing, so don't know really what to do to return then to.

Already battling pins on the hinges, so not really wanting to disassemble and attempt to replace, unless that's half assing it. Call me out, if so.

He's fine. He was talked off the precipice of the ledge!

Beno's suicide prevention hot-line?

About right.

Hopefully, twenty years from now, we'll laugh about the "WTF were you thinking?" Turkish seaside, waves lapping in the background, phone call regarding the decision to restore a Pig, at a pivotal, critical moment after being damn near berated by others in the "business" over the decision.

Hopefully, the Pig will be done by then. Hahaha.

you did see the link about molasses right?
how it cleans rusted parts like new?
do a search under my name if you have not.

I haven't but hunting for future use.

On this, trying to remove paint without have to remove the pin that holds the spring captive, nor the rubber piece in the back of the hasp.

I have a total of three full sets of these, so hoping to get one good cleaned zinc one for body shop to get doors aligned with, along with hinges that will be out of the bead blasters tomorrow.

Electrolytic rust removal .... fast, cheap, and easy ;-) Otherwise pay the blaster ...

Tucker

He said it'd tear into the zinc plating, and reason for attempting to do it this way.

If it boils down to disassembling, blasting, replating, I'm good with that, since we can use one set to align with.

Not sure about sourcing the rubber pieces and I can't see how I can remove in one piece.

Blew of working on the few Pig parts I have to go wheelin' for a few hours today.

In this area "Waterfall" is a commonly know obstacle at Disney Rocks ( not as works famous as "Viagra", but then Viagra is for old men with too much show and not enough go.....joking. It's impassable by most built rigs).

Only evidence of wheeling, which beats body carnage as proof.

First time I've been on.

Chasing Waterfall....
