Dang. Seeing peoples transfer cases all torn open makes me anxious.
The more sets of STs F5 wheels I see, the more I like them. Simple, not too flashy, just nice. I'm a fan of minimal logos on stuff; If the Rays/Volk TE37x didn't have stuff machined all over them they would be a wheel I could talk myself into.
Rays Gram Light 57DRX might be a hit for you.

Not bad at all.

2 out of 3 gear sets finished. Playing with a Chinese ultrasonic cleaner

3 out of 3 done. Used a HF 8" puller to get the smaller gear and the HF press to get the large gear.

Now to replace output seals and put it back together

To give anyone else an idea about where trimming is needed. Definitely took more off than I needed, oh well.

It still never ceases to amaze me how capable so many members are here. As a guy who's mechanical knowledge stops at being able to change my oil, how many years of working on cars did it take for you to be able to comfortably rebuild the gear case?? Is there anything you wouldn't try to do by yourself on your LC?

Hey man, anyone can take s*** apart, it’s the putting it back together correctly that gets me

I have been working on cars since I turned 16. Turbocharged my civic in high school. Went to college for engineering and now my day job is calibrating diesel engines so I've been around engines for 15 years. I am comfortable with anything that's bolted together. Rebuilding an automatic transmission or anything with air conditioning are probably the only thing I'm not comfortable doing.

I previously put crawler gears in my pickup so the hf2av was not intimidating

Ah...now I get your handle...engine engineer. Very cool.

Was there a turbo kit for the civic (what year?) My first car was my dad's 1982 Audi 5000T - back then, Turbos were so unreliable because after you turned the engine off, the oil would fry on the bearings and the carbon would flake off - bottom line, they would fail after 30K miles. My dad didn't fix the turbo by the time I got it and it was a dog! You turned on the AC and the car would slow down...

Back together. New output bearings and seals front and rear.

I used a combination of the HF 8 inch 3 jaw puller and my craftsman slide hammer kit to get the front splined gear off

Snap ring, gear, bearing retainer ring, bearing, seal.

Front Bearing PN 90363-40083

4 hrs to get it back in. Another 2 hrs to get the CDL working.

They say to put it in lock before you pull it. But i must have screwed something up because the cdl wouldn't disengage.

Lowered thr cross member and got it fixed.

Initial impressions are great. Good high range. Speedo was 3mph off gps. Low range is a crawl and makes your brakes feel even worse.
There is a whine at hwy speeds. Reminds me of a super charger.

Under drive doesn't seem to have much impact? My speedometer is still 10% slower than GPS. 60 is 65. 65 is 72. Etc. Confirmed tooth counts are correct hmm..

4.10 diffs with 35" yokohama geolandars

From @cruiseroutfit
"Speedometer is driven off the output shaft of your tcase, changes made forward of that aren't going to change the speedo output signal.

But, I can guarantee your RPM's are up 10% at the same speed. That is underdrive in action.."

I was just misunderstanding how underdrive would impact speedometer accuracy

About time, added a simple stereo. The
stock unit has barely worked and I was tired of it... Picked up a JVC kd-t710bt.

White dash LEDs. Not sure if I like the change. Also, working dome lights that don't kill my battery!

I'll take the rest of your dash lighting, but you can keep the white main dials. I didn't even know the blue/red hvac slider was illuminated. :bang:
