Yes, but "test only" is typically more $$ than a regular test.

Off the line it bogs down...like a lot, then all of a sudden its like a turbo is spooling up and then lets loose. It hauls ass! And the S/C isn't installed yet!!!

Not sure why the big bog down off the line but we both think its the throttle body that is doing it. The big bore is affecting it. Not sure whats going to happen when the blower is packing even more air into it.

I will try and record some off the line "runs" and post 'em up. Don't expect any big RPMs cuz I'm not going to push it just it.

*EDIT: now that I think about it, I'm not sure the new Turbo Supra fuel pump was installed yet. That could affect it as well.

Does anyone suppose that this issue could be due to one of the cables possibly not being tight enough on the throttle body? I know when I took off my throttle body I had to do some tinkering to get it back to where I had it adjusted before, even with having the cables marked. My shift points are still off a bit. I just noticed in the video it seems that your shift points are a lot different then mine, Mine does not get anywhere near 4,500. Might be one of those simple things to play with to see if you get results.

It was 99% the computer had only ten or so miles on it so it didn't adjust to the air/fuel mixture yet. Once the truck hit about mile 20 everything was fine. Not saying the cables are perfect but this issue is now gone.

So how does it run compared to before? Can't wait to see the supercharger on this thing.

Well it only has 150 miles on it now so I am trying to be easy on it til I come back in town at the end of the month. Yes leaving again but this time only to Vegas :P

It's very smooth and now noise free. It's amazing the things you get used to after so many years. I already did all the hard stuff so he rest of it should literally be bolt on and done within a few hours. But that's next month. Right now I'm gathering up all of my extra stuff to sell off.

Glad it was that simple!

So just for future reference, I think the "re-learning" feature of your ECU takes 3 starts, and one of the trips has to be over 55 mph.

So if I've disconnected the battery, I start and idle twice in the driveway, then take it out on the freeway for a mile. Then it seems to settle down and work fine.

I think the major problem was the fact that the connectors at the MAF were badly soiled.

Even with a total restart of the ECU it should run without any major issues. But with those bad connections the readings from the MAF were so far off that the ECU needed more time to get things working better and then reported the errors.

That I didn't know. I always thought it was ~20 miles.

^ this.

Everything was a problem because the ECU was at zero with a dirty ass MAF sensor. And the way I was cleaning it wasn't anywhere good enough.

Well its been only a few days and last night and the night before I need to top off the radiator by adding about 8oz. of water. Called Richard and said he will do a pressure test but most likely its a heater hose, even though every hose is brand new it still may be leaking during pressure. At least that's what we are hoping :(

Are you getting heat through the HVAC system? Has your thermo opened? Are you over heating?

Its been too hot to test but I can ask my wife to check. Out of town currently. Pretty sure the thermostat has opened but not 100%. Over heating no, running warmer than expected yes. Its typically running high 190s.

On a recent engine jobber I did, it took almost 1 hr to burp the system, with the front end raised about 12".

The next day I added almost 1/2 gallon to the radiator, and another day later almost a quart of water. With the rear heater, the cooling system is pretty big.

190 is fine for a 1FZ.

All good to know.

I might have missed this in a previous post, but is your SC new to this rebuild or or already on your engine?

The SC has been sitting in my garage for a couple years. Its used. The blower itself is being rebuilt by Magnuson. I've never installed it myself. SC is currently not on the motor and won't be for at least a month.

So been driving around all day doing stuff for work this week. I just hit 600 miles so I will go for the oil change. Have the 20004 filter and black stone ready to go.

One thing I noticed, the throttle body didn't really feel like it has much of an effect. Until today, I got onto an on ramp and was going uphill. Didn't want to push it hard but I needed to get up to Frwy speed and continue uphill. THATS when the new throttle body kicked in!

It greatly extends 3rd gear, I can definitely feel a seat of the pants difference at about 70mph and I can also hear the sucking action :flipoff2: from the throttle body. It's all noticeable. I'm liking it!

SC, IC, exhaust and the trans upgrade and this will be a 7000# rocket :P

You are going to love the SC. This whole thread makes me question my decision not to do a full rebuild and bore.

Any gas mileage improvement or drop? Are you running 91 octane?

Whats the plan for the trans upgrade?
