Electric fan on radiator behind A/C condenser?

Hi, If you can find nice looking vents and cut them into the hood and get rid on the underhood insulation I've found it reduces the heat quite a bit . We had some patterns for cutting out the hood scopes years ago. However I don't know who has them now. Mike

I nearly went for the bonnet mod, not for cooling though, but to satisfy the 'boy racer' look that still dwells in my ageing grey matter. :D

Or you could simply throw in a modified, adjusted, and tuned OEM blue hub clutch from Wits End/Landtank and be done.

Absolutely agree, of course if you want a more efficient system you would go all electric.

I have two puller fans on engine side of radiator with no mechanical fan clutch. This is on a Cummins conversion so may not compare to stock gas motor. The fans turn on at 195 and unless its above 80 degrees outside they usually don't even turn on unless I get stuck in traffic. I still need to connect them to turn on with my A/C but just never have got around to it as I don't use it.

I use a 12" spal ..

Is your rig manual transmission? All of the US cruisers I've seen have autos and a cooler in that location.

which model is it? Thanks

Amazon.com: Spal 30102030 12" Swept Blade Fan: Automotive

keep in mind this it's their HP version there is plenty space there for it, but it draws decent amps ( spal recommends 40amp fuse )

was auto ... then I used to have my tranny cooler there

then I move it under my winch to make space for this fan ..

Installed an OEM 100-Series condensor fan last weekend. No chance to test its operational effectiveness yet with regards to low RPM A/C cooling. The Toyota switch I used is rated for 21 amps but I used a relay regardless. Peace of mind makes for a soft pillow at night.

Any input on how the aftermarket electric fans hold up if submersed in water crossings?

Any input on how the aftermarket electric fans hold up if submersed in water crossings?

Real life experience dictates that 'sealed' fan motors have no balls as serious fans need decent cooling.

The fan I first used had vents but, I disabled it for a water crossing, what I should have done is run the fan a short while after letting it dry out a little, I forgot and screwed the motor.

The finished and installed status indicator for various systems includes a 'fan disabled' indicator that flashes when activated.

Would you mind posting the details on the model of the fans you used here? Looks like 2 fit perfectly.
