Gotcha. I was thinking that I recall reading that the IFS hubs/wheel mounting surfaces are wider than on solid axle trucks, which is why IFS wheels have more backspace? Anyone able to confirm this?

Ifs wms is roughly 3" wider. The difference you are actually looking for is the rotor hat depth.
A solid axle wheel hub with no spacer simply will not go with ifs calipers. Iirc the caliper hangs over the wms 3/8+.
I think the hat differece is an inch or better.

Ok, so to be clear as mud, in theory, newer 17” IFS wheels <should> work on older IFS trucks?

I pulled the trigger on some 17s today. Got them for $120 with Toyo ATs on them. The rims are mint, tires are only about 30%, but will be drivable until I get the right deal on some BFG MTs. Obviously I’ll post a pic when I get them on the ‘Runner.

Solid deal for some wheels that are gonna look great on your runner!

Thanks Dude. The guy had them listed for $450 on Friday, and I was admittedly considering maybe offering $350 for them, as OEM wheels seem to be made of gold here. I did a search through CL last night and saw the price change and jumped on them. I’ve got my eye on a couple of sets of 255/75-17 Rubiclone take off MTs, which will be a perfect size for what I want my truck for.

Damn! What a price drop. He obviously wasn’t getting much attention or really needed the money.

That’s insane that wheels and tires go for that much there..they pop up anywhere from $100-$200 bucks here. That set I listed before is still for sale at $450 they don’t seem to be doing too well haha

He posted them last Wednesday, so only left them up for the weekend, then lowered the price Sunday night. He had 3 sets of tires and wheels for the one truck. There is another set of the same wheels on my local CL for $550 firm with rotten winters mounted. You can see the rubber splitting in the pics, so basically rims only, but with the added PITA of dealing with his garbage tires attached.

This seller was just a nice guy who wanted room in his garage.

$120 for those 4 rims is a great deal. I (gladly) paid $200 for 4 of those 2000 4Runner rims from a local Mudder. Then I had to resort to eBay and paid $100 for the 5th so the spare would match.

I’m now on the hunt for a single as well... I like the style you put on your truck a bit better, but realized that 17s are great to pick up cheap muds from all the Jeep guys going bigger. The 255/75s are a 32.2 x 10 so a great size for stock 4.30 gears on my rig. 16s would have been nice for swapping back and forth with the 100, but I won’t need D or E load range.

Aaand hundys are 5-lug! No regrets!

I could probably start a flame war by saying "real Land Cruisers have 6 lugs" but I won't. :)

You’d best not!! The Hundy mafia will come down to “upper so cal” and kick butt! :deadhorse:

(That’s the closest emoji to “kicking butt” we have! :flipoff2:)

I’ve owned 3 40 series, 2 diesel 60s and an 80. My 100 is every bit a Land Cruiser!

I mounted the wheels up, but with the old Toyo ATs they came with. They look good, but definitely NEED MTs to reinforce the burley man nature of the all powerful 3.0 auto. I’m hoping my wife thinks it looks classy with the new silver alloys so she won’t notice when I start adding hillbilly components.

Well cmon why would you tell us you mounted them up without pics??

‘Cause it was DARK! I’ve got 5 Airstreams in and around my shop right now, and nowhere to get it close enough to light. Patience grasshopper! I’ll take a couple after I get back from duck hunting this morning.

I can give you a set of those in either 15” or 16” for a box of beers!
