I really like the way you cut the fenders, looks good. Did you roll the edges under (OEM style) or leave them sharp?

.

Did not roll the edges. There is another tub in the works for this Cruiser, so that one will have rolled edges - this one is a temp tub for now...

We just filed the edge.

you should put some BLING BLING wheel lip moulding on it ;)
i could hook you up! :D

Mounting rear shocks

I forgot to cover the rear shock absorber mounts in this thread.

I opted to mount the rear shocks to the backside of the crossmember, and continue to us the factory mounts on the U-bolt plate.

The brackets pictured came from a lift kit for early Broncos, not sure what kit - they were a gimme from a friend who has a shop. What I like about this design is it lets the shock pivot front and rear when you stuff and droop the rear axle.

I think another option when flipping rear spring pack would be to drill a hole through the crossmember and run a bolt through - similar to factory style. Does not let shock swing to the rear other than squishing the bushing though.

to answer your question.i have 5000's out back and 9000's in front(rancho).i do not like rancho shocks,i think they are hindering the ride of my rig,and flex.gonna go bilstien,or deutch 8000's.you shocks in the rear look a little long,is that how you wanted to set it up.
my downey's have broken in a little bit since install.and i have video footage to look at when i think it doesnt flex.it does, flexxes everybit of what a skyjacker can do.but the ideal set up for a spring under rig is what treeroot has.the downey cantelever shackles and a 4" lift spring.flexes awsome and rides like a caddy!!he seems to have no problems with the shackles opening up and rolling him over so that might be something to look into.
my rig is far from where it needs to be,and this winter is gonna be hump time.lots to do on it.
good luck.

pablo,
is there nothing wrong with flipping your springs? i defenitely see the advantages and have been wanting something to move my axle back a bit, but i imagine this route would severely effect the ride quality. btw i have ome springs.

Very nice looking rig you got, Pablo! My congratulations! With a help of my friend I've ordered a set of 4" Downeys too (delivery to Moscow cost more than price of springs! ) and when i've unpacked them i was nearly shocked by their strange look! :censor: I thought 4" srpings must be arched much more, but it is ok now - your springs appears with same arch. Next thing is the way they look - like old, painted springs being re-arched, hammered and quickly sprayed with black enamel paint... Please look at the photos - does your springs looks the same?

the 5000's suck....only reason your 9000's limit flex on your cruisers is cause they're my soa shocks :)

AFAIK, flipping the rear spring pack will gain you ~3 inches of wheelbase, but at the expense of some articulation.

You can see some poser flex shots in the Kelly Flats thread:

Yeah, mine looked similar. I think they went for thick paint cause they are springs...

I too was surprised that the front springs didn't have much arch, but the ride height works out. The front is stiffer than the rear springs.

Good luck! How easy is it to get parts in Moscow? I guess not too good if you paid shipping from California to Moscow!

?? ????????

You guys really amaze me with knowing russian language!

Thank you for calming me down with that paint issue. Anyway while they were on the way to Moscow I received an offer and decided to do major chassis swap - read here , so now old chassis with those downeys are for sale, but i guess coils are not worser than leafs!

About shipping charges - typical air delivery from NYC to Moscow is $7 per 1kg. Sea container freight is about $2-2.5 per 1kg, but it goes moree than a month. My friend offered me do send my landcruiser to USA in container so i'll be able to drive to moab or else and meet you guys :D

See ya!

Andrey, You rock! BBQ is awesome, but only if accompanied w/ some raunchy blues music! You like?

Is your company filming in Moab next summer? Be careful, it is very warm in Moab in the summer - it will be ~110 degrees F, you will need to take precautions so your crew dosn't suffer heat stroke.

CM'06 is May 3rd through May 7th, 2006.

For more info, see my club's website: http://www.risingsun4x4club.org/cruisemoab.asp

If your campany needs Cruiser footage, my club, Rising Sun, can help. Will you guys be passing through Denver at all?

Maybe shoot me PM's instead of continuing here so we keep the tech threads technical!
