Project BJ472 is coming

Hi everyone. I'm getting ready to enexpectedly turn my resto project from being mild resto "with attitude" to become a serious project, but it still remain street legal all-terrain category, no extreme off-road. Main thing is that i decided to swap a frame with coil suspension from 70-series Land Cruiser, a 1990 LJ72.

here's frame picture (it is frame of pre-90 rig, but it is the same except few details - front shocks on 90+ are mounted inside coils, trailing arms has eye-type mounts to the frame etc...)

Axles will be swapped too, they came from KZJ78 - 8" housings, 8.5" R&Ps with 4.875 ratio, disc brakes on all 4 corners. Steering setup is taken from 80 (box) and 60 (pump). Engine will remain stock 40's 3liter diesel "B", gearbox will be swapped to the same, but 5-speed unit from BJ60 (60 with 3.4liter "3B" diesel).

Since frames of 72 and 40 are nearly the same

(72 has 2" longer wheelbase) i think the result will have pretty stock look! I just need to fab new engine/tranny mounts and body mounts, but it is very easy. Pics will come pretty soon!

WBR!

But someone in USA and Canada has 70-series with B-type diesels or even 1HZ - i've seen 'em on photos here and on Pirate4x4 - they are true "sons of 40s" - with 9" axles and leafs. LJ/RJ70s are kinda light-duty compared to BJ70s, but their coil suspension is tough and their 8" axles aren't the same thing trucks/runners have! 70's 8" axles has thicker housings, 8.5" R&Ps, bigger knuckle balls. But their width is about the same as 40s axles.
