The motor rebuild is going well out at Mumau Diesel. They stripped the motor down, found that the KDP had fallen out which caused a small crack in the timing case, new timing case added to the build sheet. Also found that the compressor wheel on the turbo has contacted the housing, so new wheel and a rebuild to be added.

The block, head, crank, new injector nozzles, rods and pistons were sent to the machine shop for some work.
  1. The cylinders were honed
  2. The head was in good shape but they surfaced it a tiny bit anyway
  3. Register grooves were cut into the head since I am having it o-ringed.
  4. The rotating assembly was balanced
  5. The rocker pedestal were machined as I am installing ARP head studs that will have a clearance issue otherwise.
  6. New bosch injector nozzles were extruded and matched 20%
After getting everything back from the machine shop the new guts started to get installed and everything put back together, painting individual components along the way in the traditional cummins colours (beige, black and grey)

As of today the block and head is all assembled, the turbo still needs to be rebuilt.

Yesterday afternoon I got to my truck after letting it sit for 2 days and saw that I had left the fridge on...decided to video the benefits of having a backup battery setup.

Yeah yeah yeah, take care of your CEL :flipoff2:
Oh I am taking care of it alright...with a freshly rebuilt and juiced up 12V cummins....No more electrical gremlins.

When the transplant take place?
I am in the process of coordinating the return of my motor...its 6.5hr drive each way from me right now. I still need to rebuild my NV4500 with the new mainshaft and 1 3/8" input shaft. Once that is done, and I have my modified harness back in hand from Dustin, I will pull the 1FZ. No sense doing it before everything is ready to go in.

Over the long weekend I installed my aluminum YodaTEQ Gull-Wing windows from @yodaTEQ. The fit and finish are top notch, and Franks customer service is fantastic. When I first got started on the install, I had a couple questions on the seal removal, sent Frank a text, within a minute he had replied, and I was on my way. Install took about 1 hour per side, maybe a little longer on the drivers side as I had to work around my puma compressor.

Here is a short video after the install was all done. Best part about this mod is that it is :princess: approved.

Time for an update.

I now have my fresh motor back in the garage, and she came out looking real Purdy like. I also received my wiring harness back from Dustin, so everything is a go.

I have also been trying to button up a major suspension, steering, and axle rebuild/free spin hub conversion on my Ram before I get stuck into the engine swap. I am getting really close to being done. Should wrap it up this coming weekend.

You need more turbos on that purdy new 6bt Morgan.
Let's see if the axles hold up with this setup first..as it sits, it is about 500hp and 850 ft/lbs. I can only imagine what compounds would do to this behemoth.

I couldn't keep axles together behind a 2F, let alone a 4BT

Can't wait to see it on the dyno!

Breaking axles with a 2F is a skill, you should put that on your resume. Yes a dyno run will definitely happen.

Looking forward to the dyno on that thing. Going to be one hell of a machine.
Are you going to use Dustin's accessory bracket/thermostat housing or try and keep it the way it is?

I am going to use the accessory bracket/thermostat housing. If the ears break off, then I will get the modified version that he has come out with.
